Ok, this question is very confusing and my sister and I are really very worried.

My sisters husband is Nigerian and they have two lovely children together. His sister has decided to move into their home because she spoke to a priest and the priest had told her that my sisters hubby had tried to do a spell so that he dies in his sleep, so she burst in to their house and said that she is not leaving until my sis hubby pays £100 (she said she will pay 80 and he should pay 20) to have a prayer done to stop this from happening. My sister and her husband couldn't stop laughing at this ridiculous comment and said that she is imagining things, but she is deadly serious and will not leave their house!

Anyway this morning, she ordered my sister to go out and buy 6 packets of sugar cubes and any kind of sweet that a child might like. My sister asked why, and her husbands sis said that she wants to do a 'blessing' on my sisters daughter and that they will all see what happens at 6pm

LOL I'm not the crazy one it's her husbands sister, it all sounds a tad far fetched but the way she is taking it seriously is spooky. I don't think she has mental problems just a very traditional lady set in her ways a beleifs, but it doesn't give her the right to impose them on my family. Thanks for your comments so far!

This woman is just trying to take control of your sister's family, there's no doubt. Your sister and her husband should refuse to do anything she suggests or demands and make it clear they want her out of the house.

As for money for prayers, what can I say, prayers don't cost money.

About performing any kind of blessing on your daughter I will refuse outright, she can do more harm by doing it and I doubt any good will be achieved but that, especially if the child is aware of what's done to her.

Basically her husband should tell his sister to get lost and not give her a penny, otherwise she'll be trying it on again.

The problem with this kind of superstition is that it is taken very seriously by the person who believes it. I don't want to scare you but there has been reports of those so called magic ceremonies performed on people and ending badly due to either what they were doing or the products they were using. It can also end up with someone accused of being a witch and this can go very bad very quickly (see the link)

You cannot discuss with those people. The sister has to go or the kids sent away. Don't leave her alone with them.

It is quite plain that your brother in laws sister is disturbed.
Firstly they must persuade her that she is neither qualified nor entitled to bless your children.
I don't know if you are church goers but I would seek the advise of your local priest. You may find that he has had experience of these situations.
If you they are not religious I don't think it will matter. The clergy are usually well educated and could give you valuable advice.
If she refuses to leave call the police.
It might seem comical, but when she starts involving the children it is they who must be protected first.
This is your sisters house and her children, this woman must know where the real power lies. It is not in her psychological and emotional blackmail.
If she is ill I am sad for her, but they must toughen up and look to their kids.

That part of the world is steeped in very superstitious/traditional beliefs. I would be packing me & the kids up and moving out since the sister won't leave. Can't they get help from the authorities? I don't know their laws but it would seem that a home invader should be arrested.

I think this woman needs to be got out of the house and as far away from the child as possible. Do not get involved with this kind of "magic".

What's going on is a silly drama and nothing more.Sugar cubes or whatever, nothing can happen. They should find a way to send her back and 20 bucks too cheap for peace of mind.

sounds like mumbo jumbo but this lady believes that this is necessary, try to get your sister to explain to her that she is mistaken and know she cares but is scaring her. Prayers are free so this could be a money motivated thing. Good luck

She has over-stepped her bounds...your sister and her husband do not want the spells and so they have a right...she needs to go home...
