Does anyone remember the old comic book called " John Carter Warlord of Mars" i'm not sure but........?

I heard there planning on making a movie based on the old comic books, i wonder who will play Dejah Thoris because i remember seeing a Frank Frazetta painting of her and here aren't many women who can do her justice.

John Carter of Mars is a series of books written by Edgar Rice Burroughs (creator of Tarzan). The first book, Princess of Mars was published in 1917 after appearing as a serial story in a magazine.

I think Marvel did a series based on some of the books back in the 1970s, however the character also appeared in newspaper comic strips back in the 1940s.

A film adaption of the character has been attempted a number of times including a version planned by Ray Harryhasuen.

At the moment, the film is still up in the year. At first Kerry Conran (Sky Captain) was due to write and direct, then Jon Favreau. However, at present it seems that Disney have picked up the rights. The rumor is that Pixar are going to produce a film based on the character by 2012. However, that seems unlikely as Pixar have announced all their projects for the next 5 years or so (due to most of them already being in development due to the time it takes to produce one of their movies) and also because it is totally unlike the films that produce.

Yes i remember reading the marvel comics version of John Carter Warlord of Mars, i always liked the green skinned four armed thraks and the cool looking flying airships they used.
