I don't understand why. And if I tell my friends I'm not opposed to abortion then they say I'm a cruel guy. But what if you are a rape victim, 18 years old with no family to turn to? Then what?

You never cuddled the baby, you never breast-fed it, you never played with it, you never heard it's first words. You don't know one thing about it, except that it's a baby.

But dbytz, it's not a very real person. It barely qualifies as a person, it seems more like a lump of cells to me before it's born.

No no no anybody who says it is a child is wrong! It is not a child, it is a fetus or an embryo or whatever the scientific term is.

Less than 1% of IMMEDIATELY REPORTED rapes result in pregnancy.

ABORTION is the taking of a LIFE....an INNOCENT life. Some try to equate capital punishment with abortion. That's oranges and butterflies. The first is punishment for taking another's life; the latter is taking the life of someone who has done nothing wrong.
But that's just my opinion. People can make all kinds of excuses for murdering an unborn CHILD. Yet, if someone murders a pregant woman, they can be charged with double murder. How ANYONE can justify PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTIONS is beyond me. To have a child ALMOST BORN then suck its brains out is EVIL. EVIL are the people who DO THAT and EVIL is the woman who allowsTHAT. Why not just wait till the child is born and bash its head against a wall then? Makes as much sense as a PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTION. Oh, but that would be MURDER and is illegal.
To kill an unborn child by injecting salt water, eurea or potassium chloride into the womb...thus BURNING the child's skin and killing it.
The ONLY way abortion should be allowed is if the mother may die because of the pregnancy.
Just my opinion. Some are probably ticked at me, but oh well.

I think abortion should be safe and legal for those that need it. However to me, the fertilized egg is a human and a very defenseless one at that, and thus should be protected. There are a number of safer and cheaper preventative forms of birth control available and those should be the first line of "defense" rather than abortion.

My wife and I had a situation in the 3rd month of pregnancy with our second child where abortion was a consideration -- it tore us apart as our unborn was a very real person to us and had been since the begining.

I only think abortion should be legal oif you have been raped or have a disease like AIDS. but to me so many people use abortion like a form of birth control. there are too many ways to prevent pregnancy from occuring you can get it once every 3 months, you can stick it on with a patch, you can take a pill everyday, you can have it inserted and replaced every 5 or 1 years see so to me there are two many options if you truly dont want to have a baby.

Your friends appear to have been brainwashed. Cruel is forcing an unwanted child into the world to be beaten, abused, starved, and unloved. Cruel is forcing a child to give birth. Cruel is using your sexual mores to determine the entire LIFE of someone you don't know and will probably never lift a finger to help.

Ask any woman who has been pregnant with a child she DID want and ask her about the bond with that child before its born. Yes, she's never cuddled, kissed, spoke to it, etc....but she realizes that it's a living being...her child and her motherly instinct is to love it more than anything in the world and protect it.

There are those who believe that life begins when a child is conceived. For them, abortion is the act of killing a child. Whether or not they "know one thing about it" is irrelevant--it IS a child. It is an arguable position.

Personally, I'm pro-choice--for the reasons you cited and lots of others.
