I was having small contractions all day but I was already 5 days late so I didnt think anything of it because it had been having this feeling for the last week on and off. Then at 1:15 in the morning me and my husband where watching tv and my contraction wher getting worest then my water broke and I ran to the bath room. We go the hospital bag and went to the hospital and at about 5 am the contractions got really bad I had to get a eppy. this then I didn feel anything after that. I was dilated to 3-4 before I even went into labor and by the time 5 am came to be I was all the way there. but my son didnt think so, He wanted to be a pain. He was head first but sunny side down so when he hit my pevis bone he couldnt turn so he was stuck. But before they learned that he would pop his head out and then go back in this was happening for a while then after 3 long hours of none stop pushing he finally came out. And I was so happy because the doctors couldnt push him back in because he was to far down so they were worried they would break his arm or shoulder trying to get him out but they didnt thank god. A happy heathly 9lb 6oz. blonde hair blue eye bundle of joy at 1256 in the afternoon. We were so happy and excited. and the first days at home were great besides him not sleeping at night much. But all in all were very happy.

I was 2 weeks late delivering. Went to the hospital on Monday 4/23 at about 3 am. I was feeling a lot of pain every few minutes so figured it was probably labor. Got to the hospital, got all hooked up. I was only dilated to 3. This lasted for a while. Finally they decided to give me the epidural.....which was wonderful. After 11 hours of labor they decided to do a c-section. The cord was wrapped around baby's neck and thought it would be much safer. Every time I had a contraction the baby's heart rate dropped. Had the c section and gave birth to a wonderful baby boy 8 lbs 7 oz 21 inches long. My husband was very stressed during the labor but was so excited once he was born. The first few days were very stressful and worse than I expected but once I figured things out it started to run much more smooth. He is a very good baby and we love him so much. Good Luck to you!! :)

I was induced 2 days before my due date ( I really wanted MY doctor to deliver) Was given the pitocin at about 8am and had an epidural at about noon. By 11 pm there was very little progress and the doctor decided a c section was the best way to go, had my daughter about an hour later, I hated the expierience of a c section. By the tme I got back to my room I was so tired (and drugged) that I could barely hold my baby or stay awake, I felt so guilty they took the baby to the nursery for the night. But by the time they brought her back in at around 6 am I felt alot better, and was thrilled to check her all out and hold her! not the best birth story, but I would now do it all again in a heartbeat! She is the best baby, and I am thrilled to be a mom.
The first few days at home were actually alot easier than I thought they would be, but I have alot of expierience with kids, and I have a VERY good baby.
Good luck and congrats!

Congratulations yourself! Well, My labor was so quick. I started having contractions during dinner, around 5:30 pm. By 7 pm I was calling my mom to drive me to the hospital. I couldn't talk, couldn't barely stand. I got checked in around 8pm and I was 9 cm! I got to 10 cm after an hour or so and started pushing but he wouldn't move down. I went for an emergency c-section and my son, Aidan, was born at 12:52 am. I didn't have any pain meds until the c-section and it honestly wasn't that bad.
It turned out that his cord was wrapped around his neck and every push was cutting off his air. When he came out, his arms and legs were blue and they had to rub them to get the blood flowing through.
I was rolled into recovery for about an hour, then they brought me to my own room and I got to see my son. He was so gorgeous and tiny! He had to stay in the nursery for the night because I couldn't move so I couldn't take care of him, but I got him back first thing in the morning. When I first held him, I knew I loved him. It was so immediate and like a huge wave crashing over me.
I don't really remember my hospital stay, it went by so quickly. I remember his first feeding and the first time my family met him. I remember being discharged, holding him while being wheeled through the hospital, everyone stopping to tell me he was cute, precious, etc. I remember stopping on the way home for KFC because no one wanted to cook. :)
The first night home, he slept the whole night. It freaked me out. I would wake up every couple of hours to make sure he was still breathing. I had to take him to the doctor the next morning for his newborn checkup and they told me that he was a little underweight and I had to wake him up every 3 hours, day or night, to feed him. Now he's 4 months and still waked up every 4 hours. Thanks Dr. W!
Anyway, he was also a little jaundice, so we had to get him another foot prick (poor baby already had 3 done in the hospital!). The first few weeks were basically an endless cycle of eat, sleep, poop, cry, etc. for him and feed, eat, sleep when baby sleeps, and shower for me, with a few visits from friends and family thrown in during the day. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting but I enjoyed every minute of it. Whether it was 3 am or 3 pm, when I was rocking my baby and I looked into his eyes, I was constantly amazed that here was this little person who I had made that depended totally on me and who would forever be my responsibility.
Believe me, there is nothing like it.
Good luck with your little one. Try to enjoy the experience and not to worry about everything too much.

I was induced. I had labor contractions at 28 weeks ( I knew it was labor cause they hurt and rolled from my back to my front unlike braxton hicks that felt like a little roll in the front and was painless) so I went to the hospital and they stopped my contractions with tributaline. Tributaline is a shot in your butt or in pill form. They gave me the shot. Then at 35 weeks I was back in the hospital with contractions again, and they gave me Tributaline pills to stop the contractions and told me to go home. At my 32 week appointment I was dialated 1 cm and 75% effaced. Three days before my daughter was born I went to the hospital after a month of bedrest to stop contractions, and was 4 cm dialated and 95% effaced. My doctor stripped my membranes (which is removing the bag of waters from its attachment to the uterine wall.) hoping to start labor naturally on it's own but scheduled my induction for Friday February 2nd. On February 2nd, I went to the hospital at 7:00 am. I checked in they had a room ready for me. They hooked up to an IV with two bags, one was my nutrients, the other pitocin to speed things along and actually induce the labor. At around 9:30 am the doctor came in and used this giant looking crochet hook thing to break my bag of waters, it didn't hurt, just a lot of pressure. My nurse kept upping the amount of pitocing going into my veins every half hour, which also didn't hurt then the contractions got unbearable around 12:30 pm and so I had an epidural put in. Then I relaxed and joked with my family and watched TV and tried to get a little rest. Around 5:00 pm the doctor told me I was only 6 cm dialated and it would probably be another few hours before the baby was born. My family decided to go get dinner, so my fiance and I were alone watching TV. I felt the sudden urge to poop (sorry if it's graphic but it's true) so I told the nurse that I felt different then I had before. She checked me and I was fully dialated and she told me to wait to push. I called my family which left the restaurant immediatly without eating and got back to the hospital by 5:45pm and then I really needed to push so I started to push around 6:00pm and my daughter was born at 6:45pm. So I pushed for about 45 minutes although felt like a lot less in some ways and a lot more in other ways. When my daughter was born I cried, she was so beautiful and I couldn't believe she was mine and I wanted to hold her the whole time, and held her all night while my fiance tried to sleep. When we got home I was overtired but overjoyed and so I was very irritable and I broke down and cried a lot the first few days cause my daughter wouldn't breastfeed, and I couldn't produce enough milk to breastfeed her so I felt like a failure as a mother the first couple days cause my daughter was so hungry and would only take formula. After I put her on formula altogether at my pediatrician and obstetricians' advice I got over feeling like a failure and now my daughter is 7 mos old and I enjoy every minute I get to spend with her. She really is a blessing and so beautiful (and I don't think I'm being completely biased when I say she's beautiful! ;) )

I have 3 kids. first baby was overdue so they induced meand he flipped over and was breech so they had to do a c-section. I was 20 and knew nothing about c-sections. I was scared to death. I read everything on child birth but never anything on c-section. I was sooooooo sore afterwards. And swelled like the marshmellow man. NOt trying to scare you .
2nd baby no more c-sections for me going to try it natural with epidural this time. started contractions in middle of night felt like really strong menstrual cramps. Strong but not unbearable. Wasnt to bad. Got to the hospital dilated at 4 contractions got a little stronger but still not as painful as i thought it would be. Dilated at 5 they went ahead and gave me epidural.Everything fine I can handle this.So we all just sat and talked chat chat chat (LISTEN TO PEOPLE WHEN THEY TELL YOU TO REST I DIDNT) then it was time to push i pushed and pushed no luck was in there for 7 hours altogether then the dr comes in and says the baby is stuck so she got out the forceps and they had to pull her out. It hurt. I blacked out. Im not a pansy either. I can take pain really well. But it is over so quick you dont know what happened.
baby #3 we planned this baby 5 years later. I opted for a c-section this time around. Bought a house few months before getting pregnant had to insulate, drywall, new flooring windows, doors everything. My husband and I did it all our self while I was pregnant trying to get it done before baby got here. My water broke while painting the last room in the house it was just perfect it was like the baby knew we were done and it was time to come out. C-section went great came home I was a little slow but I cooked and cleaned and still took care of a 8 and 5 year old.
All in all its not easy having a baby but i didnt have hours and hours of pain pushing it hurt but it was like 10 seconds worth. Bringing them home is awesome rocking them, them looking at you is the greatest feeling ever. The first few days is easy all they do is sleep. But suck it all in and tape every moment. I'm just 29 and my oldest is now in 4th grade which makes me want to cry. They grow soooooo quick. Good luck

Well, I don't know if this helps but I was 16 when I had my daughter and 19 when I had my son. When I had my daughter, I had a Haitian doctor who felt I was too young to endure the pain of childbirth so he hypnotized me by speaking to me softly and putting his hand on my shoulder. Nothing noticeable to me but my mother stopped him when she realized what he was doing and he explained his reasoning. Well it took to a degree. I realized I was in labor when I kept feeling pressure in my nether regions (not pain, pressure). I was in labor 12 hours before my daughter was born. I endured no real pain. I arrived at the hospital at 2:58pm and she was born at 3:18pm. Things happened so quickly because I never felt any real pain that the hospital staff had to rush to get me into the delivery room. My daughter had already crowned. The only thing that kept me from having her in the car was the fact that her head was slightly twisted.
Now, having my son was MUCH different. I didn't go to the same doctor so I felt everything. I remember sitting on top of my mom and dad's washing machine, talking to my mother when the labor pain hit. I didn't fall, I slid (funny) down the washing machine and then my water broke. My mother panicked because she thought I was hurt from coming of the machine. This was about 8:30PM. I was rushed to the hospital and I was in labor 11 hours. He was delivered at 7:30am. The last contraction before he was born, the pain had gotten so bad that I literally bit a hole in the pillow but I knew that I had fully dilated. You just know. I told the nurses and they verified it.
With both of my children, my contractions never started at the typical 5 minutes, they started at 2 minutes apart .
But you know what? I don't really remember the pain. One thing about childbirth, you feel the pain while going through it, but you never really remember it. My daughter is 19 1/2 now and my son is 16, but within a few hours after having them, I didn't remember the pain of labor.
Sorry so long. But, I needed to share with you two different types of labor. I decided not to use the same doctor that I used for my daughter because I wanted to experience childbirth. I didn't want anything taken away from me. I'm glad I did that.

I've had two babies and they were both really different! but both wonderful in their own right!
My first was a girl (we didn't find out beforehand) and I found out i was preggers at 5wks. at 7wks had a bleeding scare but she was fine thank god. By 6mths I had developed bad pelvic pain and finished work early to stay home and rest. I still managed a light stroll everyday but managed also to gain a riduculous amount of weigh! 25kg or about 55pds! I then developed mild pre-eclampsia and the doctor thought i would be having a big baby so i was induced at 40wks 1day (on a monday morning as that was convinient for him, how typical!) I was in a small country hospital so epidural was only available if the right doctor happened to be available if they called him to come in and do it (he wasn't but I didn't really want one anyway because of the risks involved)
They started induction with the gel at 8am and nothing happened for hours and hours. tried gel again at 1pm again nothing, eventually at 6pm they broke my waters, by 6.20pm I was in full labour and at 2.20am she was born, all 9pd's of her!!! It was a very very very hard labour with piggybacking contractions. I would get 3-4 contractions in a row lasting about 5mins in total and then had a 2-3mins break (they should be 1 contraction of 90secs every 2-3mins!!). I couldn't have an epidural, didn't really want one anyway, and hated the idea of gas so I got a double shot of pethedine because I had started to get hysterical at about 1am. I immediately settled down and after an hour and a half of pushing she was born. Got a second degree tear and cracked my tailbone during delivery. Needless to say I couldn't sit down properly for about 3mths and then it was still causing me problems for more than 6+ mths.
Just wonderful! She more than made up for it though and I breastfed okay for 7mths and healed well in the vaginal area other than the tailbone.
I stayed in the hospital for 3nights after she was born (tue wed thur) and came home friday night. the nurses were trying to convince me to stay one more night because they only see about 6-8babies born there a year as it is a small hospital (bigger one 20mins away and a huge one an hour away). i did get home cooked food, baby taken at night with nurse in baby carrier while she did her rounds, personal lactation consultant who happened to be on staff every night I was there, own room, ensuite, mountain views, all the little luxuries of a small town hospital with the best doctor and nurse care I could've asked for. I had 1 doctor and 3midwives at my delivery (1 stayed past her shift, the next shift nurse and a trainee who delivered her) and partner so if was a happy bustling room! When we got home it was heaven and hubby and I coped very well. My midwife commented on how well I was doing (only just turned 20 with no family around to help) and asked me to sit with two midwifery students so they could use me as a case study, I was so chuffed! Having her was all I expected and more!
Nearly 2 years later I was pregnant again...
My second baby was a boy (we found out this time) and I found out I was preggers again at 5wks. Not one pregnancy complaint to speak of, one ultrasound at 18wks 4days which was spot on to my calculated gestation so I knew I would probably be having a smaller more average sized baby this time! Phew! After the wonderful pregnancy, I went into labour at 40wks2days at 9.30pm or thereabouts and I went to hospital at 2am and was 5cm dilated and had 5-6min contractions. The midwives were great when we got to hospital and checked us into the room, examined me and got us all set up within 1/2 an hour. He was born at 7.07am with small shot of pethedine again (didn't even notice it this time, so basically a natural delivery without pain meds) and came out after only 20mins of good pushes. He did have the cord around his neck and was a funny shade of redish purple but breathed on his own within a few seconds and was weighed in at 8pd 2oz.
I breazed through that pregnancy (apart from some insomnia which is normal at the end), labour and delivery. all in all he was born in 9hrs or so and I was so ready to have another one! I did however hurt my tailbone again so I had to go through the months of pain but i was used to it by now and just adjusted to it. didn't tear either, just a bit grazed so that area healed well. We adjusted well when he came home from hospital the day after he was born (about 36hrs in hospital this time as we had moved to a city and hospital had 4 beds in a room, public care but not bad they were just busy all the time and don't have the time to stop by unless you ask for something, crap food, noisey, pretty awful really)
Our daughter was the best big sister and he was the most placid and beautiful baby ever! Breastfed really well again till 8mths and it was everything I expected and more again!
I really really enjoyed both my pregnancies and deliveries even with their problems and want to have another final baby but hubby is content with what we have. As our son is now 2.5yrs so I feel its the right time but we'll wait and see. I'll make him see I'm right of course, he gets to have the fun anyway!
Congratulations and best of luck with your impending arrival. It really is the most magical thing you will experiece so savour every moment, good or bad, as it is over so quickly and you forget so much. I kept a diary for my kids of the birth story and little tidbits here and there so I could remember it all!
Best of luck
