Animal abuse is any behavior or neglect that causes harm to an animal. If the animal is tied up without food or water for long periods of time, that is abuse, as is leaving an animal in a parked car with the windows rolled up. Not caring for an animal, i.e., not giving it the proper food or shelter is as bad as actually beating or harming an animal on purpose. A good place to start researching your project would be to call your local animal shelter (it would be under the County listings in the phone book), police department and/or private practice veterinarian. They will have plenty of information for you, I'm sure. The County offices should also be able to put you in contact with an animal control officer, which is like a "pet-police", that handles cases of aminal cruelty. Good luck, and have at it!

you find the site ASPCA they will have lots of information on animal abuse. first of all fighting dogs (pits) they are brought up hurting others and they use other small animals they are taught to kill. this is abuse. some people hord them. they are sick themselves and they maybe have 20 to 70 animals in one home with the homse so dirty its unbelieveable and the states sometimes go into their places and help them and the animals. the ways you can help is turn them in to aspca. there is a place where you can watch animal planet and they show this all the time where they are mean to animals and they arepickedup and saved allthe time. sometimes let them die for no food and water no place to be in when its cold or hot. its unbelieveable what people do and this is abuse and bad. if they'd do this to animals they will slowly do it to people also and that is why we'e trying to stop this ifyou see an animal with bones horses whatever turn them in calling aspca and get them help. they dont' need your name just a address. theya re in every state of the union. take care.
