I felt that an operation of that size took a lot of planning.
Now I feel your question is better suited for the Polls & Surveys category.

At first, I thought it was a terrible accident. When I saw the first plane, I thought the pilot was in error or something, and that was recorded. I saw the second plane live on the Today show on NBC. I believe I and the others I was with all shed a tear or two. It was horrible. I think that most people know someone who know someone (etc) whose life was taken in 911. Those people are cowards who did this to us, but the United States is a great country, and will have (and will continue to) rise above it. God bless the USA!!!!

as another poster said. I was watching on TV with a pilot friend of mine, speculating on how such a terrible accident could happen
Then we saw the second plane hit.
My first thought was the first message the Navy sent out on 12/7/41."Air Raid Pearl Harbor. This is no drill".
Air Raid New York . This is no drill.
and a few minutes later, I remember the quote of the Japanese Admiral who lead the attack on Pearl:
""I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve."
Where's the resolve, America?

I was stunned, I thought I had tuned into a Hollywood horror movie with the people running from Mothra. But, it was on every channel. When it actually came down, I got a little faint, I wondered if the people from the store I used to work for had showed up to work early, I wondered if they were all right.
I wondered if I knew anyone there. I wondered if my sister who lived a few blocks away was all right. There was no way to reach her for four days. My husband brought me a brandy at ten, that's how long it took to sink in. I live in NY, I watched the towers go up, I never thought I would see them go down.

Numb, confused
As it became known that this was premeditated, fairly well orchestrated murder, I felt righteous indignation. It was a wake-up call.
I was reminded of an anicent warrior who was saddened that his people were at war. The war was not going well. Their army was in need of supplies and replacements. Without supplies and relief he watched his faithful warriors fight and die. He had sent letters to the heads of state to appeal to their leaders to send more supplies with no response. His brave warriors fought with all of their might and finally won the war.
Word finally came from their capital city. The message was clear, there had been a take over by people calling themselves “Kingmen”. They had placed a King over the people and had chased the nation’s leaders out of their capital. When the commander heard this he tore his coat and on a piece of it he wrote, “In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children” he fastened it to a pole and raised it as a banner. Then he put on his armor, knelt down in mighty prayer and asked God for the blessings of liberty to be upon his people so long as there was a band of believers remaining to possess the land.
“In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children”

I was listening my usual morning news show and some word I can not even remember caught my attention. It was unbelievable and surreal as I turned to see the screen the 1st plane went into the building. I will never forget that image.

it was around 11pm where i was when it happened. i didn't cry. but i was shocked. it seemed to me a scene from a movie and the whole thing did not register to me as real, well into the next day, when newspapers and tv stations kept on running the footage, over and over. it was a sick, sick thing....
