works the other way round, kay
usually birth does not start before the fetus is ready for life. that is the case after about 9 months development.
if the baby is born earlier, than the pregnancy has been disturbed through something

I think that nine months is a compromise between the size of the baby's head and the size of the woman's cervix. The cervix has to distend a lot to allow the baby to leave the womb. The baby's brain also develops a lot during pregnancy, which increases the size of the head, so that the baby has a disproportionately large head. If the head were even larger, this would either mean much wider hips or would put the mother at more risk, never mind the pain of giving birth.

That's just how long it takes for the baby to finish growing. As with anything it takes a certain amout of time. For example, the soft spot takes around a year to close it. Once the baby is fully developed it is ready to come and will start preparing. Having a baby, i've always thought is one of the most amazing things. My things is,how does it know how long to stay there, its how does a woman grow a baby inside of her. I just think its amazing.

God makes everything perfect in life, God organizes our body very neatly that can perform mircle such making a baby in the woman's womb. And the baby stays there for nine months and God is taking care of him/her to be ready for life..
I believe this is God's way to keep the baby 9 months so the baby is full and ready to live outside.

the way i've had it explained is that the baby secrets a hormone that tells the body to start the process of labour and delivery. sometimes they get this a little confused, hence premature births. but mostly within 2weeks either side of the 40 week term, most babies will spontaneously give off the hormone and hey presto, congratulations mummy!
Other than that, you'll have to ask god how he thought that one up! (if you're so inclined that is!
cheers,

It has to do with the chemicals naturally produced by the human body during gestation. At specific points during the pregnancy (based upon the baby's size, etc.), chemical triggers are released, which in turn causes other chemicals to be released by the mother's body, e.g. testosterone if the baby's a boy.

Who knows. My baby was due on July 11th and he was born on July 2nd. Technically, pregnancy is 10 months.

I thinks the baby grows to the size that woman's body( uterus) can't hold it in anymore, no more room to grow and the baby pushes him/herself out.
