"Breakin" the lease would mean that you have, in someway, not upheld your part of the terms of your lease contract. Simply continuing to pay the lease payment may not be enough performance to fulfill your agreement.or there may be stipulations within the lease that forbids a tenant from leaving the unit unoccupied for extended periods of time. Review your lease carefully ! Many times there are ways to terminate a lease (certain fees may apply) in the event of unforeseen life events.
If your lease contract is held by an individual, chances are that they will not be reporting to the credit bureaus, however, if the lease is with a management firm, there are avenues they can use that may affect your credit.
Best suggestion, communicate your intentions with your landlord and try to come to a compromise that suits both of your needs. good luck.

If you continue to pay the monies, no effect on your credit report. You are not breaking the lease just not living there. You may be able to make a deal with landlord on the amount you pay as long as you move out and the landlord can find new tenants.

If you continue to pay, then you are not breaking the lease. If you opt to break the lease and not pay, it may not affect your credit, but you could probably be taken to court for the remainder of what you owe.
Talk to your landlord and discuss options of getting out early, but expect some sort of penalty.

If you continue to pay the rent, it won't impact your credit.
Go to rent.com or even craigslist.org and find someone to sublet your place so you're not stuck paying rent for an apartment you're not living in.
