G'day from Sydney Australia Mick,

as long as they don't get rid of 'Days Of Our Drearies.'

I NEEED that junky z rated soap to keep my weight down.

It goes like this:
I get to eat anything I like. Cake, chocolate, steak, you name it, then I play a re-run of a re-run and soon as I hear....

''Äs the stomach turns, we bring you episode 4,523 of days of our lives''...........and that's all I get to see, cos it's off to the dunny to heave my gutz.

Please don't take that dreadful soapy away, with my job as a vet, I absolutely hate the taste of having to put my finger down my throat.

It's just a genre. SOme people like it some don't. No big deal.

Your statement makes as much sense as saying all Sci-fi should be scrapped. Or all action should be scrapped. Or all comedy.... etc.

And I have no idea who David Platt is.

Are you kidding me? There is worse tv out there - Soaps are entertaining and I've been watching Y&R for over 20 years. Can I miss a show? Sure, but I'd rather not! Scrapping Springer or some of the new Reality shows would be a positive step though!

I hate to sound horribly rude but is your life so painfully dull that you must come on to the Soap Opera section to speak badly about it? Do you feel better about how crappy you must feel about yourself now? ok then, move along, and may I suggest simply ignoring the Soap Opera Section if you don't like it. You see I don't like Sci-fi so what I do is I don't click on the link, it's really quite simple to stay away from entertainment you don't like.

NO!! You would probably see the biggest fight in the world break out of soaps were cancelled. They all are not bad you should really think with a more positive outlook on them. How are they any different from movies or any other nighttime dramas that are on?

Soap operas are a way for some people to escape their own lives. They are a form of relaxation as many are so far fetched to be considered as real life.

Soaps are a brilliant way to address many important issues - relationships, behaviour, illness, etc. that some people only take note if they see it on TV.

If you don't like soaps they by all means don't watch them .
I hate football games and most sports on TV but I know others enjoy them ,so I just change the channels when they come on so you could do the same or watch one and be hooked LOL

Well I personally don't watch them, but I believe everything has its pros and cons.
For example, maybe a youngster decided to stay home to watch Eastenders one night instead of going out drinking... and escaped crime, or even death.
That was a rubbish example, but what I'm saying is to look at the bigger picture.
Don't assume that something that isn't beneficial to you isn't a great help to others, maybe even in a way you don't even think about.

No, you are not alone, but we are in a minority. If you banned soap opera, then millions of sad women would get off their ar-ses and actually have a social life. Of course you would have to ban football on the telly as well, except for highlight the coverage of the local club to the lads. Likewise, soaps could be covered in one gossip programme each week, for the girls.

People would go out to socialise again, and clubs like Man U would have to rely on local support, and stop paying huge fees to overpriced foreign players. Footballers wages would plummet, and they would start recruiting local talent again, so kids would take more of an interest in sport at school, and without the brain lobotomy of corrie/home and away/ eastenders and the like, women would start to talk about actual life in their conversations, or just shut up for a few minutes to actually get some work done....

have I upset enough folks now lol :0)
