How scary? 1-10?

Btw, Ive never seen a horror movie or read anything scary... Will I be scared? have any sleepless nights?

I would give it a 10 it was pretty scary to me, but I read it when I was 13 years old so... I still think it was scary. As for the movie it doesn't really do the book justice.

Ill give it a 7. Not too scary but still a chilling read.
One of the Kings excellent novels, i thoroughly recommend it.
I also recommend reading its sister book, The Regulators, by Stephen's "Dark Half" Richard Bachman, but Desperation is a much better read.
Edt: movies are never as good as the book they came from!!
I havent seen the movie (dont really want to) but the ending was excellent; it sticks out in my mind as opposed to other endings.
I wouldnt call this horror, its more of a supernatural thriller, theres some (kay a lot!) violence and strange sex scenes, but its not gonna keep you up at night (i hope!).

I didn't read the book but i saw the movie and I didn't think it was scary at all. It was a intersting movie up until the stupid ending. And I guess the ending was very similar to the book because my fiancee had read the book.

I love Stephen King but I always find the movies lacking the quality of his writing.

It's not one of his scariest but its certainly thought provoking. You won't lose sleep if you realize its only fiction.
