Those ground zero workers who have died of cancer and other illnesses due to breathing harmful substances while participating in the rescue and recovery mission, are these people counted as the deaths of the 9-11 terrorist attacks?

Although they did not die on 9-11 per say, I still think they should be included in the memorial to 9-11 victims. Because the actions of the terrorists killed them as well.

Wow, that's a great question, one that I would like to know the answer to as well.. I was there in New York on 911, and I saw those planes fly into the twin towers... that changed my life... and the lives of millions of people... I think that they should be honored just as anyone that died in 911 is... Something to investigate though.. I really don't think they are counted...that sucks because they are hero's just as much as the ones that died that day...Thanks for asking this poignant question.. and god bless everyone today... USA!

I seriously doubt it. Usually, in a situation like this they count the immediate and direct casualities as opposed to the deaths that came from indirect contact or aftermath. Think of those people who must have had heart attacks just to 'see' such things happening. I am sure their deaths are counted, but not in the direct numbers.

I think they be included in thoughts in prayers even if they haven't been included in the raw statistical data.
