No, I've never thought us safe. And I am not being rude. I just think if someone is going to try something, we can't be everywhere. So, I worry. You always think,
What if?????? But, yes today is a day of remembrance, and good thoughts. From here on out !

We've never been safer. The incidents to which you refer happen less than once every hundred years. No similar event will happen to the United States in your lifetime.
This is certainly a day to remember and respect those innocents who lost their lives. In fact, we tend to become too blase about such incidents - do you recall the sacrifices made by Americans a hundred forty four years ago? It was called the Battle of Antietam - the bloodiest single day in American history. Those men deserve recognition and respect, yet most Americans today can't even tell you the year that battle happened, where Antietam Creek is nor who was fighting whom.
Let us not forget the victims - civilian and military - of that most evil deed six years ago today. But let us also not allow such things to frighten us out of living life to it's fullest and flipping the bird to anyone like bin Laden as we do. We are Americans, and nobody dictates to us!

Sash,
I remember very well about 6 years ago,
all too well,
there was no escape
It is hard to believe but
where I am it is safe
I don't think there has been
terrorist acts,
The airport here in Saskatoon
has beefed up their security
this means items are going through
a metal detector

Unfortunately, I don't believe we will ever be safe now that the insurgents and terrorists know they have done unto the great USA once. They will try again. I also believe that it is not a time for us to panic and throw our hands up, but a time for us to reconsider our 'great nation' and understand that peace with any nation is going to have to come with sitting down and talking. The USA does not often want to do that. I believe as Americans we must do all that we can do to ensure our safety in our homes, communities, schools and always be alert. We have to stop turning on each other and start being smarter about who our enemy is. Finally, I believe that our government is able to withstand many things, but we will have to learn how to cope with these instances in a better way. We have got to learn the law of love if we are going to survive any crisis - within and without.
Thanks for your question - and to those who are still grieving - may God grant you peace on this day in memory of your loved ones lost.

I'm afraid every day, so I don't feel that we will ever be truly safe.. Ever since I watched those planes fly into the twin towers, my mind hasn't been the same.. I have 2 young kids and I worry for them...If you had been there and seen and heard it first hand, you would probably never feel safe and the same again either...

I believe we are as safe as we can be.
Are there more things we could do? Perhaps.
But the price of freedom is that we have to give up some of that warm fuzzy safe feeling. So unless you want to give up your freedom to live in a police state, you will always have to realize that the possibility of terrorism will and does exist.

No, i dont think we are safe at all. We have put ourselves at risk by continuing this supposed ''war on terror'' - The Authorities only fight the extremeists when it is bad for their public image.
Be prepared. Because another attack is imminent. (in my opinion)

Still safe? The world has never been "safe".
And who is "we"? Every day thousands of people die because of terrorism.

I feel we are less safe now. We have made too many enemies.
It is a question of where and when, not if.
