Errrm, I have been talked through changing a plug. Red is the live wire, brown is the Earth and blue is the neutral.
Or am I in for a massive shock soon?

yes, living so close to the power station, the diffence in potential between netrual and earth is sometimes as high as between netrual and live. And, the current actually flows - back and forth (AC) between the two (L and N) However, it is the Live which is fused to protect you from overloading the wiring.
Netrual is green and yellow (UK) live is red/brown and netrual is blue/black
At work we are on three phase, so it gets a bit more complicated.
