whether it be a league game , a midweek LDV game ( One for the little boys there) , or a midweek League cup stay-away game. ( Or even a friendly.)
It's just I've been trawling through some dvd's of Blackpools games and on some clips you could count the entire crowd on one hand. ( during the Doom and Gloom years)
Just wondering if any-one has ever seen or heard of away fans ever outnumbering the home ???

Hiya Leedsmikey,
Please don't take offence from this reply, but Leeds did spring to mind with LDV games this season.
( And you could actually be right for a couple of Away games aswell. )
Good luck for the rest of the season.

Hiya R R,
Yeah, I forgot all about Wimbledons problems aswell.
After the plea went out for fans to 'Stay Away' who would have thought that Gillingham would out number any-one at an away match.

The tickets have been expensive leading up to the lock-out and didn't go down after the NHL started up again, which turned some fans off. What really doesn't/didn't help them was the sudden rise of the Pistons a few years back and the Tigers last year (I won't include the Lions until they win another playoff game). When the Red Wings were really good in the 90's, it was basically just themselves to compete with in the city. Now, it's 10 year later and people are torn between which team to see (and the economy hasn't really help that much either; we recently had our state government shut down [for a total of 4 hours] because there wasn't a budget). As for the Hockeytown thing.... It was a PR thing that they created in 1996 to attract people to the Joe. This was after the Wings set the record for most points in a season and before they won the Stanley Cup the next two seasons. Besides, it's Hockeytown, USA, which is fitting since we have won more cups than any team in the USA. Added: Okay, first of all, I think the Lions get sold out because they play only 8 eight games and those tickets are bought so that people at home can watch the game. There have been many times that the Lions needed an extension so that their games wouldn't be blacked-out. The Pistons sell out, or should I say sell more, because the prices are lower than at the Joe. They also have several other things going on around the game than just the game itself (damn those bells and whistles). The Tigers are selling out because they've just became a top tier team and the prices are pretty good, considering. It could also be that the Pistons, Tigers, and Lions are the fresh "new thing" in town and you see more bandwagon fans jumping over their than at the Joe.

At Burnden Park, back in the 81/82 season we had a crunch game against Sheffield Utd. Bolton have always had a hardcore following of 1500/2000 fans - even in the doom and gloom years. So on the day, kick off 3:00p.m as usual, away fans started to arrive by train, car, van etc. By 1:00p.m around 12,000/15,000 away fans had taken over all the town centre pubs. They packed the town hall precinct, forcing shoppers to take early, evasive action. Theses fans filled the Lever End, the Embankment, half the Paddock and some of the Manny Road Stand. They kept up the chants, the singing and the threats all through the game. And after the match, they dominated the town centre again, right through until closing time. West Ham and Sheffield Weds have done it as well around the same time. But never like that. Although Leeds brought about 10,000 during a league cup match, which they won 3-1. Thankfully it was foggy, so you couldn't see the other end, or what was to come!. I still got hospitalised!. But those were the days?.

Basically every time the Old Firm come to Tannadice we're outnumbered and that's no including the ones that sneak in the home end. They get 3 stands, we get 2. Yep Tannadice has 5 stands.

i've seen welling utd play chealsea (when andy townsend , who started his career at welling , and nigel spackman played for chelsea the score was 4 -4 and chelsea took 3 sides of the ground.)
incidently steve finnan also played for welling after being rejected by palace and wimbledon and before being picked up by fulham.
by the way the chelsea / welling game was a pre season friendly game organised by andy townsend.
