My requirements for a phone are:

1) It must get good service just about anywhere.

2) It must be durable. (I tend to drop things).

3) I would prefer a flip-phone, but it's not necessary.

4) I would like one with Bluetooth.

What phone would you recommend? Also which ones that are commonly offered by phone companies should I avoid like the plague?

I would recommend any Nokia. Check Nokia.com , you will find a wide choice of flip phones. Their phones are tough and endure some tough falls. It might however be wise to invest in a nice phone cover though.

A good flip phone which lasts is

Sony Z710i
Nokia N76

The good service will depend upon the Network provider. In India Airtel has Fantastic connectivity and range.

The Sony Z710i is durable and sturdy as it is made of hard metal encasing. It does not get easily dented or scratched. I think the N76 should also perform well.. As Nokia Phones dont get spoilt even after plenty of slips.. I dropped my Nokia atleast 2-3 times a week.. still works after one and a half years!

If you not particular about flip get the

Nokia 6300
Sony k810i

Fantastic phones!!

All phones mentioned have bluetooth.

TracFone: Because it does everything you mentioned & in my opinion it's the best plan to use. You can get them practically anywhere & you buy your minutes ahead of time, so there's no scarey bill at the end of the month.
