y = (- 6) x

Consider the equation of a general Line y = mx + c, where m is the gradient and c is the y intercept.

we know that the slope is -6 therefore, m = -6. Put this into the equation above and we have

y = -6x + c.

It goes through the origin (0,0). This means that we know x=0 and y= 0 is a valid point, and so put this in to get

0 = 0 +c which implies c = 0

Therefore the equation of the line is y = -6x
