YESSSSSSSSSSSS! Do NOT miss balos beach, west of hania!
It's a bit of a pain to get there but I can assure you it is one of the best in Europe...you have to do a bit of walking, but once you see it you will be left with your mouth open from it's beauty. Strips of sand and blue lagoon is what you can expect.

I went to Malia in Crete a few years ago and took the tour of the Leper colony island called Spinalonga (I think). It was an 18-30 holiday and I was hungover so I never made it up to the actual island, I just sat on the beach. The beach, however, is really nice and the water is so clear. It's the only place I've ever seen fish eat lettuce and feta cheese!!
I haven't been much help have I? Sorry, but I hope you enjoy yourself anyway. And bring me back a bit of a tan coz I'm still pure white this year!! Take care :)

heraklion the capital is Greece's 5th biggest city, very cosmopolitan.
samaria, knossos are must-sees.
there's a great water park called watercity too if you like that kind of thing.
agios nikalaos is quite pretty as resorts go,
stay away from Malia, it's a dump and full of 18-30 idiots.

Knossos - Where Thesius slew the minotaur.
Samaria Gorge.
Its all great, have a good time.
