I was asleep (work graveyard shift). I woke up around 2 o'clock and went to get a hamburger. I remember there was nobody on the road. I turned on the radio and heard an announcement about "the terrorist attack," and remember thinking it was something over in the middle east.
When I got home I (finally) turned on the t.v. and for the rest of the day I was stuck on the sofa watching the reports. I watched all night until it was time to go to work again at eleven. And to this day, I'm still amazed at the attacks.
To all those who choose just one day to remember the attacks, think of those who lost love ones. They don't miss their family and friends for one day only and neither should we. Go to sites about Sept. 11 often and hope something like this never happens again.

Day of sadness. I was at home in London I my bedroom. it was the afternoon I think already and I was struggling with a job application form to try and get a full-time job. The radio was on and said a plane had hit the towers. Straight away I rmembered the plane that hit the Empire State Building way back and thought only of a light plane. Within seconds I had CNN on and watched live as the second plane hit the tower

Things that you don't understand doesn't mean it was some kind of US government conspiracy. The building collapsed because of the way it was constructed. The fireproofing insulation was blown off by the impact of the plane. The plane was at the beginning of a long flight so it was full of jet fuel. The towers did not collapse right away but many people were trapped on the upper floors because the fire blocked them from getting to the stairs or using the elevators. The exits and elevators were inadequate.

I was sleeping on the couch. I was sick with Broncistis, (as I get almost every year around this time). I woke up and my husband and then infant daughter were on the floor in front of me watching the tv. My husband was crying. My first thought was gezz what a realistic movie. When I actually got off the couch is when my husband told me that it was happening that I just freaked out. See I should have been at work that day. I worked at 2 WTC 72nd Fl MSDW. I ran to the computer turned it on, grabed the phone and started trying phone numbers. I couldn't call out. It was like the lines were dead. The computer was blue screening from soo many ppl trying to IM me to see if I was okay.
Frustrated I sat back down on the couch for I can't even think of how long staring at the screen in disbelief. When I finally got up off that couch and braved going outside in the yard, I freaked out some more because of the sounds, the smells, the feelings. That emergency responce sound, that erry whining could be heard throughout the city. The Army Helicopters were flying around paroling the bridges that they wouldn't let anyone but Emergency vechiles on. The quiet of the normal city sounds. The feeling of total dispare and morning. The look of the sky, dark but yet the sun was out.
It took hours before we could make calls. It was mid afternoon before my father who lives in Canada was able to get through. It was late that night that my friends from outa state could get through. Most importantly it was about 10pm that night before I found out that my company was the most luckiest and had only lost 3 lives that day.
We spent the rest of the day going btw watching the tv and answering calls to running to the stores and bringing all the supplies to the fire house to take down the the site.
It was January before I actually went down to Liberty st. Its been 6 years and I have never gone back to work in a big building in the city.

Just walking into the break room when the TV, always on in there and usually ignored as noise, suddenly showed images of a disaster. That's what they called it at first. They didn't know what was happening.
I spent the next few hours in front of that TV...along with my entire department, watching it all unfold....I watched the towers fall.... you know, time actually stood still for all of us that day. We never gave a thought to the jobs we were supposed to be doing...we never clocked out, just slowly trickled out one by one and left, speechless, caught up in our own thoughts.
I have forgotten many things...I can catch a glimpse of, say, my child's first day of school but couldn't tell you what I was wearing, or what I did that day. But Sept 11th, I can remember every single detail...every sound, every picture, what I was wearing....I can honestly say that it changed me. I knew, at that moment, that the precious little boy I raised, and watched graduate from basic, was lost to me forever by the coming war. That I'd no longer take the life I lived for granted.

I am in Australia. I remember my alarm going off and hearing the news. I just thought there had been a plane crash. I never really knew the extent of it until I switched on a television & then when I went to work it was clear what had happened. 9/11 occurred a month before I was to be married.....I hope that you get some interesting answers for this one...

I was in bed and heard the phone ring and then my mother screamed. I ran into the living room and watched the news with her. I can still remember just sitting in front of the TV all day. It was probably a good thing I didnt have to work that day becuase I dont think I would have remembered to go in.

Between class periods. I walked into m second hour and the t.v was on. I thought some jackass had run into a building on accident. Moments later the second plane crashed. I was horrified. I will never forget.
