I am an office temp and was given a desk next to someone whose perfume makes me leave work early, gives me headaches and makes me consider quitting the job. Would it be rude if I move desks, tell her or grin and bear it (and probably asphyxiate in the process)

I feel for you! I hate perfumes and quickly develop a headache and feelings of sickness. This is a particularly bad problem in London. My sister has the same sensitivity and as she runs her own company, she has a clause in all employee contracts that no perfumes (female AND male) must be worn.
Move desks. Make up an excuse but don't sweat too much over giving an explanation.

Ask her what kind of perfume she is wearing, and when she tells you, tell her that it gives you awful headaches and makes you nauseated by the end of the day. I would move to another desk further away from her. If it is so bad that it makes you want to quit the job, you could always go to your supervisor and see if they can do anything about it.

I had the comparable difficulty and could get migraines eveyday from adult males wearing sturdy colonge to a foundry. they could stand precise beside me each and every of the time at my table and that i had to coach those adult males. I purely informed them flat out that i could surely apreciate him they did no longer placed on sturdy perfumes while working around me because of the fact i'm getting migraines. I then mocked them and reported what the hell are you wearing cologne to artwork for anyhow, we are all adult males working right here. They stopped wearing it. this is extra suitable in case you have extra seniorty to than the guy to tug it off. My landlady replaced into applying sturdy scents and it interest me problems so I informed her that I had easy allergies and that i could ought to flow. Make something up.

introduce her to new perfume
in a friendly and kind way
like tell her u juz got this new perfume and that it smells nice
if she likes it then u can get 1 for her
this way her perfume will not irritate u and u may become close friends
it is like killing 2 birds with 1 stone

I don't think it's a good idea to tackle her about her perfume. I'd ask for another desk, nearer the window of ventilation.

Well, hello- I think the best way to address this would be to ofer her/him some perfum that you might like to smell and would be becoming to her body chemistry. that would solve that. Just one day, buy her/him some perfume and say to her/him I saw this and throught of you, I think this would be lovely on you.

best to be honest and ask her what the perfume is, suggest to her that it seems very potent and for some reason it sets off breathing difficulties and is making you poorly
