The motherboard of my computer has only 2 DIMM slots and both of them are filled with 256 MB DDR1 RAM. ( The mohterboard supports 333 MHz & 400 MHz RAMs). I want to add another 1 GB of memory while keeping the existing RAM cards and the motherboard. Is there anyway to do that?

if u only have 2 dimm slots no .. the most efficient way would be to buy a 2gig kit .. file the old dimms ..

If you definately want your old ram, then the only solution is to find a new motherboard having more than 2 dimms....

In a word, no. If your motherboard only has 2 slots for memory and they're both being used, you'll have to remove the RAM to install new RAM, or change your motherboard to one with more slots.

Sorry the short answer is no.
However, you may be able to remove one of the 256 and replace it with 1GB - giving you a total of 1.2 GB but be careful because your motherboard might only support matched pairs - meaning you will need 2 x 1GB

1Gb + 256mb would work on those 2 slots but you will disable dual channel mode if board is capable. BUT still, 1.256Gb single channel is much better than just 2x256mb even if dual channel. 2x1Gb would be a great future upgrade path.
