The sound of silence. No sirens at all ( I live in the Nev. mtns)
no graffitti, no gangs, where I live you can go for a walk anytime of the night you want to without fear. We go out of town and don't lock the doors, the highest speed limit is 35mph.While there are drawbacks, I'm not certain I'd want to move. I love the peace. I look out my windows and see mtns all around me. I go for a walk and the sky is clear. There doesn't seem to be any pollution here.

I think a lot of other answers here are true - things like less pollution, more privacy and more space.

But the number one best thing about the country, I think, is the stars at night that you wouldn't be able to see in the city because of light pollution. Especially in Australia, where I live, because we see the best aspect of the Milky Way. It's absolutely spectacular.

It's very quiet and peaceful. I live in the city but I have some family living in the country in Georgia. I'm from New Jersey by the way.

Less congested, more room for gardens and flowers, I think more freedom of movement: I raised my kids on the Canadian/ Minnesota border, lived there for 30 years. My nearest neighbor was 38 miles away, lived on a lake with a river chain. Isolated in the winter for weeks at a time, hard to get the kids to school but, they never missed a day. My son's graduating class was six kids.

the peacefulness and being able to walk around your house in whatever you want, or nothing without fear of your neighbor looking into your windows... The ability to have a bonfire with friends and listen to music into the wee hours of the morning without getting the cops called on you... being able to look out in the backyard and see wildlife walking around without fear...
