It really depends on what type of pill you go on, you have to understand that it will take a few months for your body to get used to the pill.
As for weight gain, yes its very likely but in the way that you can either retain a lot more water than usual so that you become bloated or that you find yourself eating more than normal. These side effects are common but only for a couple of month, then your body will be used to it so any excess eating is purely your own habit.
Ask your doctor for more assistance but any weight gain will be slight and you will be used to the pill in a couple of months anyway. This is the advice I was given however if you do notice any major changes then that type of pill is not suitable for you and your doctor will prescribe a different type!

some types of pill do make you gain weight, my friends tried the injection ( ithink its called deepo ) and she put on a lot of weight, but having said that you go to the gym 3- 4 times a week and if you eat a healthy diet then I'm sure you won't have the problem of weight gain and saves the worry of split condoms. it is all about finding the right type of pill for you, talk to your nurse and she will be able to advise you.

Yes, they can cause weight gain but that weight is mostly of water which is caused by the hormones in the medication. Some women (myself included when I did a particular brand) have actually lost weight while being on the pill. With the brand I tried I lost nearly 10 lbs.

Its possible but you wont gain so much that its very noticable, if at all. the first time i went on the pill i gained a bit of weight, but it made me very ill and my body cant take to the pill anymore. talk to your gp about your concerns they will give you a pill which will decrease your chance of putting on weight as i think there are some to help with weight at the same time. if after the first pack you dont agree with it, then there are always other options of contraception to use. it just takes getting used to and finding the right one for you.

The pill can make you more hungry than usual. Also I have been on it for nearly a year and my breasts have gone enormous. I dont' seem to have put on weight elsewhere but I do feel more bloated sometimes than usual and I suffer from bad breast tenderness at times.
At the end of the day all the above is bearable and worth not worrying every time I have sex!

The reason there are so many types of Pill available is because different women react differently. You'll have to find one that suits you best (the nurse/ doctor will guide you there). I didn't pick up weight when I started taking the Pill, but I know women who did.

I was told that the pill increases your appetite making u want 2 eat more, thats the only reason u'll gain weight. I did increase my appetite but i've always been lucky in being able to eat what i want. I do find it causes bloating though!

If you are worried speak to your nurse and she will answer all of your questions.
You shouldn't gain weight if you continue your healthy eating and exercise!
