Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau
Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi,
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri;
Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mâd,
Tros ryddid gollasant eu gwaed.

Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad.
Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau,
O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau.
Hen Gymru fynyddig, paradwys y bardd,
Pob dyffryn, pob clogwyn i'm golwg sydd hardd;
Trwy deimlad gwladgarol, mor swynol yw si
Ei nentydd, afonydd, i mi.

Os treisiodd y gelyn fy ngwlad tan ei droed,
Mae hen iaith y Cymry mor fyw ag erioed.
Ni luddiwyd yr awen gan erchyll law brad,
Na thelyn berseiniol fy ngwlad.

The Land Of My Fathers
The land of my fathers is dear unto me,
Old land where the minstrels are honored and free;
Its warring defenders so gallant and brave,
For freedom their life's blood they gave.

Home, home, true am I to home,
While seas secure the land so pure,
O may the old language endure.
Old land of the mountains, the Eden of bards,
Each gorge and each valley a loveliness guards;
Through love of my country, charmed voices will be
Its streams, and its rivers, to me.

Though foemen have trampled my land 'neath their feet,
The language of Cambria still knows no retreat;
The muse is not vanquished by traitor's fell hand,
Nor silenced the harp of my land.

it is a national anthem. Wales in a country in it's own right, the same as England, Scotland, and Ireland are! Although it's a principality, it's still a country! That is if you regard England, Scotland and Ireland as countries as well.

The Welsh do not discriminate against the english! lol We may have had problems in the past but we are not like that, we are a friendly kind of people and welcome all sorts.

Your partner just probably isnt any good at what she does! hehe!

Many of my friends are english and i have lots of friends who have english friends as well and treat them exactly them same.

we are all human regardless of where we come from.

Wonderful, it goes straight to the heart. But what can you expect, the Welsh are a very lyrical nation, who, unlike most of us English, stay true to their Celtic roots.

In my opinion, it's the best national anthem in the world. You are right, though. I was brought up singing it when I was very small, learning it parrot fashion and never considered the English translation. In fact, it doesn't translate that well. It sounds better in Welsh.

Just a shame the Welsh live so far in the past.

They Welsh Tourist Board avertise heavily for people to go and visit, but when you do, the restaurant staff ignore you because you have an English accent.
A friends wife runs a nursery there, but only has six kids, because she is English. The Welsh parents wont send their own kids there, so she only has children from other English parents.
Her own kids are made to sit on their hands and keep quiet in class as punishment because they dont know their primary language.

Its brilliant and most Welsh people know it off by heart and belt it out regular.
Although as a side note Dylan Thomas said "Land of my fathers, they can have it "
