I am one of those northern yobs that spend all their money on fags and beer.
However, tommorow, I am starting a course of "Champix", the new stop smoking drug.
If it is succesful, How will I live with myself, I wont be able to be called a northerner anymore.
What will I do if I dont stink of beer and fags?

Yes I had the same encouragement myself.
I am not stopping because of any pressure from anyone, or because of the ban because at the moment Iquite enjoy flouting the ban, simplt because it si a ban.
I am stopping because I am in the proces of amking arrangements to move to Cyprus with my family (YES).
The health service out there is not the same as here so I thought if I stop, it's one less problem that may arise in the future.

I too, am a northerner!!! Yes, I smell of beer and fags and have nothing to do apart from claim my dole money and waste my live!!! hahahaha
Good luck with the smoking though!
(I think only use northerners get it!!)

I do hope it is a success for you, and i would not care what i smelled as. Just think of the money you will save and how you won't have to be on an oxygen machine years from now. Also thankyou for this tip of Champix i am going to look this up myself and mention it to my own doctor to hopefully stop smoking . If only i had known when a young one what it could do if you smoked but back then they promoted it on tv and billboards as being cool. Was i ever a fool and still am for smoking.

Keep pigeons, develope a beer gut and work on sinking disgracefully into middle age! However, good luck with the smoking - if it works you could be looking back on a great life in 80 odd years time! Just imagine saying to your great grandkids "When I were a lad"

One of my daughter's staff team went on Champix. From 50/60 per day to 4 per day to 0. He is doing well.
You will just have to get used to all the other smells around you - you will be surprised at how many there are.

Hey congratulations that you intend to give up smoking, you'll still be a northerner though especially if you've got a fantastic accent. You'll be able to pull the girls better if you don't reek of ciggies. I wish you all the best with your "stop smoking campaign" good on you.

Oh I thought it was a day dedicated to me...
Champix apparently are very very good.
GO FOR IT.
Day 4 will be the hardest when quitting smoking, but you can do it.
The benefits of not smoking completely outweigh the benefits of.
Also, just observe all those smokers outside buildings today... how stupid do they look. Literally rolling up £5ers and burning them.

Good luck, I don't think it's anything to do with being a 'Northerner'. I have lived in both North and South and far prefer the North, and seeing as it's a bit colder you don't need so many iced beers. We have our addictions too in the South.............

Hey good luck, if you are successful you won't regret it I promise. I stopped 18 months ago using patches, I used to think that smoking was part of me, now I can't imagine myself smoking. Plus think of all the money you will save.
