My next door neighbours are. I never hear them laughing and she is always complaining about something. They are both retired and all they seem to do is potter about in their front and back gardens.

Only occasionally, when I have good reason to be.
I can't see anything wrong with pottering in the garden though.
Laughter may be the best medicine, but only if it's a real happy laugh, not an unkind one as heard in the area where I live.

When I am old I shall revel in being a grumpy old woman because at a certain time in our lives we earn the right to demand respect from the youth, complain about how things have changed and how we have aged. I think these neighbours of yours should potter in their gardens with their grand children.

I'm an old woman but I'm not grumpy!! I have chronic pain, have very limited mobility and could be gumpy IF I chose to be. But I choose to be cheerful, thankful to still be able to live alone, grateful for my wonderful family and a host of great friends. I laugh a lot; pray a lot; read; write; go fishing; play with my grandkids, dog, 2 cats, 2 parakeets and a cockatiel, watch O'Reilly, Glen Beck, Dog the Bounty Hunter, pro football games, and Snapped. I'd love to be able to work again but I'm too busy to have to work anyway. Life is good! God is great!

No I am neither grumpy nor old but I know the type. Many people are like this and enjoy complaining - both young and old. Don't worry - they are probably as happy together as they have ever been!

What do you want to run their lives for?They probably don,t have much to laugh about.Women do complain to and about their husbands,thats what husbands are there for,to take the flak and provide a shoulder to cry on.When you get older(and you will hear this a lot)you will wonder why you ever were so lacking in compassion and understanding.
