I'm thinking of buying one - what should I look for, and most importantly - when do they grow out of them?

A saucer is good because while the baby is bouncing up and down it strengthens the leg muscles, getting him/her ready for a walker or walking with your help.
Its usually between 5-9 months. I still use it and my baby is 15 months but I usually use it for when I feed her and when she's feeding her self.
Just vary from saucer to walker to crawling/walking around as a way to make make it more fun.
Also make sure its sturdy, and that the toys don't have small parts that can pose a chocking hazard, with anything that concerns baby make sure safety is your first priority.

Whenever they reach the weight/height limit for the Exersaucer. Check the packaging to find out what that is. My daughter's has lots of interactive toys around it that she really enjoys. Also, look for one with a height adjustment that will adjust as your child grows.

My daughter had one and it was great. When she figured out how to climb out or cried because she didn't want to be confined is when I took her out but she still would walk around it, play with the toys and crawl under it for a long while after. I bought mine at a baby consignment store which was great because I didn't spend a fortune and didn't feel obligated to use it forever.
