Yes. It is every LAW abiding citizens right to bear arms under the second ammendment. However, those that choose to do so, should do so responsibly. meaning that the individual should have indepth knowledge of the weapon, its safe use, when it should be employed. Obviously, you should not be authorized to carry a weapon if you are a convicted felon, or have physcological issues. It is too bad that the only time anything is ever covered in the news is when someone is robbed at gunpoint or shot. Why is it that the News doesn't cover when a law abiding citizen prevented a robbery or other crimes with their gun? because it isn't bad news, and it is sad that most stations think that the American citizens only want to hear the gory bad stuff....(ratings I guess).
It States where law abiding citizens go through background checks and thorough training to be authorized to carry a weapon concealed, the crime rates have not gone up as alot of anti-gun people would like for you to believe, it is the opposite. Check the government statistics for states that allow concealed carry like Florida. You will see that the violent crimes have gone down, as the thugs have to know think about whether or not their victim is packing protection or not. So to sum it all up....YES, responsible law abiding citizens should be able to own and or carry weapons. (Remember, it is NOT the guns that kill people....it is people that kill people). My mother was killed in her own home by a handgun. Does that make me think that all guns should be taken away? NO Way! Had my mother not gotten rid of her own weapon just weeks prior, she may have been able to defend herself. If this deranged man didn't have a gun, then he would have used the readily available kitchen knives on the nearby counter. It would have been an even more horrible death to have went that way. I thank God that my mother didn't feel to much pain as the coroner said she died almost instantly.

Every citizen is born with the right to bear arms. This should require people to complete a firearm safety course to be able to carry a firearm in public. That right should be taken away due to any number of violent crimes or psychological conditions. If every criminal knew that every citizen may be packing a pistol, the number of violent crimes would drop to almost none.

Yes, they should, if you take guns away from the average citizen in America, the only one that will have guns are the criminals!! Guns don't kill people, People kill people. Cane killed Able with a rock, so do we ban all rocks??? What about all of the people that have been beaten to death with hammers or baseball bats? Do we ban them??? Do we make knives illegal??? Lots of knives have killed people, so do we make them illegal??? Of course not, because every person with half of a brain knows that it is not the material item that kills a person, it is a person that kills a person. If we remove the guns, they will buy ropes and strangle people with ropes, when people want to kill people , they will always find a way, and by outlawing guns, you will only make the average American citizen more vunerable to the criminals.

I think it should be a privilege. For example, if someone commits a violent crime, he shouldn't be allowed to own a gun. I also believe that every gun should be registered, so that the owner can be easily identified if that gun is used to commit a vilent crime.
