I can say that my criteria in righteous life is the fear of God. You should not allow sin coming into your life. Whatever good is in you, share it whole heartedly. Always do the right thing because God has given as the freedom of choice, so make your life as an instrument to spread the goodness of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our vital role as a person is to be like Christ. Love your neighbor as yourself and be a friend to everybody.

I can definitely say I live a righteous life... a life of Dharma as I follow the path of absolute truthfulness! Travelers on the path of spirituality always live a righteous life. Only those indulging in wanton desires and materialistic riches swerve from the path of truthfulness.
Even before all religions came into existence... it was Dharma (righteousness) that governed the life of people! To follow the path of Dharma (righteousness) one needs hearing the sweet small inner voice of our soul atman that seems to come from within our heart.
Our soul atman is the master and controller of the body and not vice versa! To adhere to the dictates of the soul atman within is the moral responsibility of every human being devoid of which human beings reduce to the level of an animal!
If we truly understand the crux of cosmic life we would never despair in life! Traveling the path of absolute truthfulness and spirituality is following the path of righteousness in life! Those with a bloated ego suppress the voice of our soul atman within.
This leads one towards a life of crime. In the present times adharma (lawlessness) has become a way of life! Sheer muscle power and money rule the roost! Avoiding lavish indulgence and greed for materialistic riches... one ultimately controls the inner urges! More on Dharma - http://www.godrealized.com/dharma_definition.html

From years-ago bible study, no longer undertaken but stuck in my head, I guess I sort of live by the criteria put down by Jesus just before his human self died... 'love me, and love others as you would love yourself.' Those were called the last and the greatest of the "commandments."
I especially go for loving others as self, though sometimes I find it hard to love self... still, in loving others I find that path again, 'cause they tell me "thanks!" ;-}

When people sometimes say:
"Wow. That's righteous, dude."
Then I know it's all good.
