Well cellphones are the 'in' thing besides being more accessable and convenient for the majority of people, and most people communicate by txt msgs. Unfortunately you need the telephone line for the internet, as you said. Over here in NZ, most companies and businesses will not call you on the cellphone and insist on you supplying a landline number if they are to contact you. A bit ironic, but it promotes business for the telephone companies of which there are quite a few! The competition for specials and deals on landlines are always going. By the way, all local calls in each town is free and any calls made to another town is charged at NZ$0.02 per minute. So generally, most people here have landlines and when you connect to broadband, the first month is free.

I phone people from my cellphone to their cellphones. I have a fixed land line, but I use it only for internet purposes only. I don't even know my own land line number & have never given it to anyone. When people ask me if I have a land line, I just say "no".

Yes I do. I like to call them on their land line at home because they normally seem to be more relaxed then. A lot off times when answering their mobile phone, people seem to be busy running in the rat race.

No , i call my friends and family on their cell phones , i find it more convenient for both me and them , I call business contacts, clients etc on their office land lines most of the time as i feel cell phones are more for personal calls , unless they specify that they prefer to be contacted on their cells.
I do not have a land line at home , and i use a 3G card for internet connection.

I do not have a phone at home, will get one once TELSCUM is not the only provider anymore.
It does not really make a difference WHICH number one uses, since TELSCUM had a huge stake in Vodacom, and now they will buy a huge stake in MTN.
We need some competition fast.

Bhuti, I mostly call from and to cellphones. I do have a landline but I seldom use it. Come to think of it, I don't think we still need landlines for internet. Wherever telkom technology allows for internet, you have mobile capability, so you can use 3G in its whatever varient form..^^)))

i don't comprehend why she could be calling your place if she grow to be in worry, why does no longer she in simple terms call 911 herself? sounds like a prank call to me. that's a various tale if somebody asks you in individual to call 911, yet over the telephone? She ought to easily call 911 herself. do no longer difficulty approximately it, i'm specific this is purely a woman enjoying prank calls along with her little brothers cap gun. wish this facilitates :)

We don't even have a landline at home, everyone has a cellphone, so why bother with the extra cost?
