Okay. I am a Christian (I prefer Protestant because everyone is a Christian nowadays). Abstinence works. I am 29 years old. My husband was the first and only man I ever slept with (first time when I was 24 years old). We planned for our first child now 2 1/2 years old and I am pregnant with my 2nd (also planned), no accidents. Sex Ed was a mandatory class in my school and my parents did talk to me about it too. I think Sex Ed is important and should be taught and since kids will still do what they know they shouldn't I think abstinence should still be taught a little more or at least equally to using condoms, birth control, etc. I think the teachers should not just teach the textbook facts about sex but teach about all the myths that kids believe nowadays such as: you can't get pregnant the first time you have sex FALSE; the pull out method works FALSE; you can use abortions for birth control FALSE. I believe parents need to take a more active role with their children and knowing where they are.

It does. Masturbation isn't a sin. Only a few old world Catholics still think it is. I was sexually abstinent and carried through...so did 2 (so far) of my daughters. I'm not impressed with school "sex ed" classes. Judging by many of the questions asked on one of the forums here, none of the teens are or have paid attention in them. They have some of the strangest notions. The girls and guys haven't even the slightest understanding of how the female reproductive system works. Seriously, have you read some of the "Could I/She be Pregnant?" questions. They don't have a clue.
Children just won't pay attention. They probably spend the entire class giggling and waiting for the naughty bits rather than learning anything productive. It's a waste of time and money if nothing else.
If you don't want your children to abstain...fine...hand out the condoms at 11 years old and put your daughters' on birth control. I have no issues with that. Just don't try to inflict YOUR personal moral code (or lack thereof) or expectations of behavior onto my daughters and sons. I expect more of mine than you do yours and so far, I haven't been disappointed. They (aged now 16-25) are doing just fine. I've had 2 wait for marriage and 2 left...still abstaining. No teen abortions, no genital herpes, no pregnancy scares. Just kids focused on achieving and on their education and sports.

I'm sexually abstinent. I masturbate and I find nothing wrong with it, as long as I'm watching porn while doing so.
I don't want to have sex until I marry, but still I feel like having sex within marriage is a little too much of a pressure. You know, not having sex before marriage may be easier, but after can be a little hard to do it. Am I weird or what?
Anyway, abstinence works. 100% How can you get pregnant without doing anything?
Besides, you won't die from not having sex. Like, I have never heard anyone say anything about food abstinence or sleep abstinence before.

Where oh where did you come up with the line that not having sex isn't healthy? LOL Whoo love that one. Guys try to use that one girls all the time and it's a load of crap.
Abstinance works because it's the ONLY way to not have those teens walking around highschool pregnant - obviously the sex ed classes on "safe sex" aren't working are they?
With the STDs at an all time high it's another proof that the "safe sex" classes aren't working.

Abstaining from sex does work. It has a 100% track record of preventing pregnancy and sexual disease. Of course, abstinence only works if someone chooses it. I think that's where your argument is - whether or not it's reasonable to think people will abstain from sex until they are married or otherwise capable of maintaining a monogamous relationship which can support the care of a child. I think abstinence is more reasonable than you give it credit for, and I think people are more capable of practicing abstinence than you are giving them credit for. Therefore, I believe abstinence should be presented as a viable choice to preventing pregnancy and sexual disease. I chose abstinence. I kept to it through high school, college, and the next few years until I met the woman who is now my wife. And, hey, I am quite healthy! Now you know of someone who actually chose abstinence and stuck to it.
As for masturbation - please provide proof the Bible counts it as a sin. I know the Bible doesn't, but I'd like for you to tell me why you think it does.
Yes, education about sex and proper moral sexual behavior should be made available to all people. Parents should take the main responsibility of educating their children about sex. Proper education is the key to helping turn the tide of terrible sexual choices made by teens and adults everyday.

abstinence is healthy.
Its not healthy for a teen to be pregnant.. her body is not really mature enough to carry a baby and go thru labor.
STDs are more common than people like to think.. those are certainly not healthy.
There are mental and social aspects of sex that most teenagers are just not prepared for.
I think sex ed is important, to teach kids about safe sex, the risks and consequences. Even condoms and birth control do fail! Actually, parents should be the ones teaching, not the schools.. but most parents avoid it, or dont want to face the facts that their kids are growing up.

People use condoms...but some get pregnant all the same some get HIV...those who abstain..please show me one who got pregnant though it...It does work if you decide that's what you want.Unfortunately media n peer pressure makes teens think you can't live without it..you sure can.Once you have the self discipline you're good till whenever you think otherwise.Nothings cool about being teen mom coz your body wont b that ready plus your psyc plus your pocket...why the rush? How ever i think kids need to be taught in schools so that kids don't walk in ignorance.it'll be up to them to take it or leave it but at least the info will be there.

Young person, as a Minister I find many flaws with your line of thinking. First, abstinence prevents a young person from disease, and other health risk problems. Second, Abstinence allows students to complete school and get a higher education without having to worry about a child they did not plan for. Sex according to God's word was intended for a Man and Woman in the bonds of marriage not before. I agree with one thing that you said, masturbation can lead to sin if done so lusting after a physical person. Please rethink your thoughts and ask yourself, how would you complete your education if you had to work full-time to care for a child you didn't plan for and also know this condoms are not 100 percent safe, they break. Please think.

what the hell is sexual abstinence? abstinence is the total opposite of being sexual.. Christians know it doesn't work. they think if the try harder it will. im Christian and i practice abstinence but its not because of my religion. just a personal choice. getting rid of sex ed and condoms isn't gonna stop any one.
