I don't think most people are afraid this year. People were more frightened last year when it was the 5th anniversary. I think that people will be more frightened on the "big" anniversaries like 10th, 20th, 25th, etc.
Other than one friend who is flying today, I have not really heard anyone talking about it.
I actually think that Sept. 11th will probably be one of the safest days to do anything as security will be so tight everywhere.

Kinda. In Philippines someone was caught with explosives intended to blow on the anniversary of 9/11.
