We all know her performance was horrible to the umpteenth degree, but now everyone's made a big debate over it.

We have the Britney fans and sympathizers who feel sorry for her because "she's two years out of practice and was really nervous"... the fans who are buying into the rumor/excuse that Britney "overheard Sarah Silverman's set and was distraught before performing"... the people who want everyone to "cut her some slack and let her get her groove back because she's had such a hard life and so many things to deal with recently."

Then we have people like me, who admittedly USED to be Britney fans (I was 10 years old when her first album dropped), but are now disgusted by her lack of professionalism, talent, and any kind of role model quality.

I want to know, from you Britney fans and sympathizers:
What in the world makes her worthy of your support? Who are these strange, delusional people who make up her fanbase nowadays?

(Question continues...)

She had a flubbed acting debut, hastily married a childhood friend on a whim who she divorced 55 hours later, married Kevin Federline and gave birth to two children with whom she has been shown on multiple occasions to be negligent and irresponsible, later divorced her second husband, admitted herself to rehab, shaved her head---possibly to disguise use of marijuana, was photographed attacking a photographer with an umbrella, has been shown on video tape to be delusional and possibly under the influence of narcotics, photographed on several occasions with no underwear on. Now, you've all witnessed her commit career suicide by giving the most uninspired, lackluster performance I have ever seen, appearing to be drunken or drugged, lipsynching (which we all expect from Britney, so no big there), and lolling through her dance moves with no enthusiasm whatsoever.

Her performance was sickening, and to think that so many people admire this talentless woman is even more so. I don't understand why people run to the defense of celebrities when they screw up. These are people who have had their lives paved in gold, and have had everything handed to them on a silver platter. Britney is an adult and she CHOOSES to act in the way she has, and it's absurd that people are supporting her for it. You can not blame it on 'pressure'... Britney has been used to that her entire life, and if she wanted out of the lifestyle she has chosen, she would not have agreed to making any sort of "comeback" in the music industry.

Let me give you a scenario: An upper-middle-class folk who works for the management of a company is given weeks to prepare a demonstration at a business meeting. The morning he is set to give the presentation, he goes out and parties with some friends and ends up drinking. He shows up to his meeting in the afternoon with a buzz, looking dazed and disoriented, and stumbles through his presentation in front of the company's management. He is clearly embarassing himself, putting in very little effort, and appearing as though he would rather not be there.

Do you think management would show him any sympathy whatsoever? Do you think they would say "oh, you poor thing, you haven't given a presentation in a while, better next time"? Do you think they'd support him and get behind him?Furthermore, don't you think his co-workers would feel absolutely disgraced that this man was giving such a disasterous performance, while they could have stood in front of management and done 100% better?

The man giving the presentation represents Britney. The management, the people he was presenting for, represent us, the audience. Who do you think the co-workers of the businessman represent? Other musicians. REAL musicians. The musicians who had to sit out there in the audience watching Britney's sad excuse for a performance open the show. There are a lot of artists out there that put countless hours of hard work into writing songs and performing them, and they were disgraced.

How is that whole businessman situation any different than this Britney thing? Why do people get behind celebrities who put in zero amount of effort for their fans? Why are people supporting Britney, after all of the horrible decisions she's made? I would really like to know. That's my question. What is it exactly that you people are a fan of? It can't be the same Britney the rest of us are reading about and listening to.

I suggest people find new role models and inspirations... people who have actually done worth while things in their life and proven that they can handle the profession they've chosen. People who are decent human beings. I understand "everyone makes mistakes", but that excuse is not applicable to Britney... her whole career has been a mistake.

I am a Christian and I know that Britney grew up Christian and there is an emotional bonding that I have with her. I think the paparazzi are to blame for Britney speeding off with her baby on her lap because she didn't have enough time to get away from them by putting her child in a car seat. The paparazzi are responsible for so many celebrity car accidents and mistakes behind the wheel except for celebrities driving drunk which is not what Britney has done. Britney has bi-polar which is what I have and millions of people around the world have been diagnosed with recently. Family problems and rape are among the top reasons bi-polar develops in people especially young women (16-40) and you can research that sweetheart. Britney has never driven her car drunk nor has she ever posed nude for a guy at the young age of 16, 17, or 18. She has worn long shirts as dresses that don't cover her deary rear but I believe that she is out of it and needs help quickly. Ms. Spears needs to go back to church for guidance, forgive her parents for their mistakes, and see a psychologist for support. Britney reminds me of the late actress Marilyn Monroe who had many issues of her own and was bi-polar. She has been a performer her whole life. Britney was destined to entertain on stage.

I think she made a huge mistake in appearing on this show. Her performance was horrible and she didn't even seem to try to conceal that she was lip-synching. Since it is obvious she has gained quite a bit of weight recently, she should not have worn such a revealing outfit. I don't know if anybody else noticed this but I thought she bore a striking resemblance to the late Anna Nicole Smith. Britney is now at a point in her career where she has to make some serious decisions. She has to decided whether to disappear for a while to remake her image or simply walk away from her career entirely. She can't continue with what she was doing when she was 18 or 19 years old. It's not working now and never will again.

It is easily said in two words
Spoiled Rotten
Who could feel sorry for her. Things that normal people have to deal with all the time she has finally been getting a taste of some reality. She has been able to live a life way beyond every one elses means and have the great life. Now she is upset because she is n't the perfect little princess she was once portrayed as.
Disney really needs to look at how they are sending out they little princesses into the world. Brittany, Lindsay Lohan and the new girl from High School Musicial what ever the hell her name is

Awesome example/question!!!!! I used to be a fan of Britney's but it has been deception after deception. I mean, we're all humans, but we accept, learn and get better not worse!

When u compare this last presentation versus Britney's MTVs VMAs 2001 Slave for U performance one can only say DAMN!!!!!!!!! We weren't expecting less that that for a comeback. I REALLY wanted this comeback to be good: everyone deserves a second chance but this was sh**!!! Starting at her tasteless-looking-cheap clothes: yuck!

And ONE MORE THING: for those saying that we have to understand that she had two babies and that's why her figure is in not so good shape PLEASE!!!!!! We all have seen other celebrities that had have more than a baby and look stuning months after, if not WEEKS!!!! See Heidy Klum (3 babies) , Demi Moore (3), Madonna (2), Reese Witherspoon (2), Julia Roberts (twins!!!) and the list keeps going on and on.
How they did it? Commitment with their carrers.

After being around addicted personalities for my complete life, I can tell you that I hate the things she does. I hate the cold personality and the fact that these people will beg borrow and steal from anyone they can. I hate the way they put guilt trips and blame others and I hate that they make people feel sorry for them. I know it is a problem that is hard to break and as a past smoker, I know that it is only by the Hand of God that it is possible to quit. There are those who have been told not to even take one drink or do one drug because of the risk of addiction and yet they do it. One great problem is that before addiction, you do not know how much hurt you will cause every person you are in continual contact with and many do choose drugs over their children, parents, and everyone. There is no real answer to your question. My heart goes out to her ex-husband and her poor children. They are the ones I focus on. Brittney is making money off from her lifestyle and it looks like money and drugs come before children, husband, and family. Do pray that she gets help and she is not doing all of this for publicity.

Not a fan or a hater, but don't see why we should be bothered. My recommendation is that she take a year (or a couple) off to sort herself out, I mean she should have give herself time to recover physically, mentally, emotionally etc. The comeback was done in too much of a rush. But you've got to be tough or crazy to still get up there in that outfit amidst all this drama and attempt a comeback.

I do feel sorry for her. She used to be great.

I know she has been through a lot,..

all of which is of course, her own fault...

but this is no way of making a comeback.

There is no excuse for indecency.

Joan of Arc is a role model. Not Britney.

Alrighty then! Wowee, first time I've ever seen "question continues".... and boy has it!

Your point was well taken and I agree with your point on professionalism. Entertainment is HER business, her employment and she did NOT live up to the expectations set by her fans. She clearly understood those expectations and failed miserably.

A role model for young girls. She blew it. She won't ever get it back. Hard to redeem yourself after all that. Why do all these people who have it made not appreciate it? HEY Brittany! Go get a job at McDonalds.
