Settlers seldom have any defined system of social class and Americans are the example.A class system needs lot of snobbery which only Britishers can have and practice. As for as Britishers are concerned, they haven't much else to show but to fall back on their class system to cover up so many shortcomings as a society.

The US has a class system but it's different that what exists in Britain. Over there, it's determined more by the person's ancestry but in the US, it's about money. Those with the most money get the best society has to offer. They get better legal representation, medical care, housing, jobs, and other special privileges. However, it should be pointed out this sort of system also exists in Britain. Those from the lower classes tend to be poor while those from the upper classes are rich.

Maybe it's because they DO have a bit of class to their culture!!

Not like America which has, over the generations, slipped & plummeted into the pits.

Nope - I've been trying hard & cannot come up with the name of a single American of whom I consider has any form of class.

Rovale deserves the 10 points he is bob on.You don't have to have money to have class,it seems there are too many people that have money tend to think they are refined, but come across utterly vulgar.

It's something deeply rooted in their culture. Just like the powdered wigs they still wear, along with having afternoon tea.
