If they do believe the McCanns killed her why are they not looking for her body. I thought you couldn't be charged with a murder unless you have a body or is that just in UK. I do believe the McCanns know something but this seems strange to me.

I'm sure they are following all the leads they have, but right now the fastest (and only...) way to find her body would be to find her killer.

According to a report today, the PJ are about to search every inch of the church to which the McCanns had keys. They are also going to have the road near the church dug up - this is the road that was being repaired at the time Madeleine vanished and there were several deep trenches there at the time. The villa where the McCanns have been staying is also going to be thoroughly searched.

Policing and scientific advances have moved on so much, that since the 1950's if there is a suspicion that someone is dead then yes a charge can be made without there been a body.

And who says that they have stopped looking? Only the McCanns are saying that.

You CAN be charged with murder without the body in the uk. Look up the case of Danielle Jones whose uncle was charged with her murder, her body hasn't been found to this day.

Portugal is sooo different from england on the law side of things. A english source on sky news said they were looking on the beach. The portugese police dont tell their media everything like we english do. Thats why theirs so many rumors, none really knows all the facts from fiction unfortunately. The fact is Madeleine is still missing and we need to find her.

You can be charged with murder if there is no body & to start a search you would need some idea of where the body may be hidden.

i think they're bored with it all, as are the general public...i find it really sad that all the mcanns were trying to do was keep their child alive in the public eye, what has happened is they've attracted resentment and suspicion. remember john mcarthy? and how jill morrell tried to keep his memory alive? it backfired too... what IS a person to do....

They are.
Trouble is theres not many places elses they can look for.
Or do you suggest they just make up leads?
If they have got evidence she is dead then why should they be looking for Madeleine alive?

Go and buy this morning's paper...any!
It's a big story saying they want to charge the mother with ''Accidental Homicide''....

They should have been first people on their suspects list....

I really hope the UK government will not intervene because they really deserve to be punished.....
