"Last Kiss" is a song that was written by Wayne Cochran in 1962 and originally performed by Wayne Cochran & the C.C. Riders, although their version of the song had little success.
In 1964, J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers had the first real commercial success with the song. The cover was released in June 1964 and reached the Top 10 in October. It eventually reached #2 on the Top 40 pop charts, and also earned the band a gold record.

Well we were out on a date in my daddy's car
We hadn't driven very far
When out in the road straight ahead
A car was stalled the engine was dead
Well I couldn't stop so I swerved to the right
I'll never forget the sound that night
The cryin' tires the bustin' glass
The painful scream that I heard last
Well where oh where can my baby be
The Lord took her away from me
She's gone to heaven so I've got to be good
So I can see my baby when I leave this world
When I woke up the rain was pourin' down
There were people standin' all around
Something warm was runnin' in my eyes
But I found my baby somehow that night
I raised her head and then she smiled and said
Hold me darlin' for a little while
I held her close I kissed her our last kiss
I'd found a love that I knew I would miss
Now she's gone even though I hold her tight
I lost my love, my life, that night
Where oh where.....

Dean Martin and Barry White to me was the male voices of love and romance. Dean Martin in my opinion could make taking out the garbage a romantic task. Favorite songs: Your nobody 'til someone loves you Everybody loves somebody Return to me Memories are made of this In the Chapel in the moonlight. His work in television with Jerry Lewis and the celebrity roasts of the 70's can never be duplicated. I have many of them on DVD's. Another reason i do not watch t.v today with such class acts that remain timeless.

If referring to the remake done by Pearl Jam a few years ago, that was not by them. And yes I know the lyrics
