I'm surprised nobody has mentioned The Dave Clark 5. They were touring the US when The Beatles first began to hit it big. They had a lot of hits like "Glad All Over", "Do You Love Me", "Over And Over", and "Because" but hardly anybody seems to remember them anymore.

The Seeker by the Who. If I really wanted to push it, the Beatles era could have technically ended in 1970, which would then include Sabbath, and in THAT case it's Fairies Wear Boots, with Dazed and Confused by Zeppelin being a close 2nd.

which british invasion? there have been a few.

if you want to push it up to 1968 -- the rolling stones sympathy for the devil -- earlier stones, get off of my cloud

the who's my generation

my favorite that isn't going to come up that should is shirley basey's theme for goldfinger. its got to be one of the most skipped over icons in music history if you love it or hate it. it made the james bond theme song sound that has been imitated for the last 40 years but nobody has come close to the original. anytime you want instant credibility for being cooler than anyone else you imitate it.

Anything and everything by The Beatles, those guys do not have a single bad song. Tons of Animals songs: "House of the Rising Sun," "We Gotta Get Out of this Place," and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood." And of course, tons of Rolling Stones: "Paint it Black," "Get Off of My Cloud," "Under My Thumb," "Ruby Tuesday."

This isn't terribly specific but anything by The Kinks. "All Day, and All of the Night" is my favorite.
