... you came across an item that was priced wrong (less than what you knew it was worth), you proceeded to buy this item & then were told "..this is a typing error & we cannot sell it to you for this price..." would you push the issue or not?

...let me illiterate... you come across an item, ohhh.... a cartier watch,in let's say... 'EBAY', valued at US$25 000.00, & instead of the bidding price starting at US$3 000.00, this is the 'BUY IT NOW' price... you click the buy it now, go through paypal etc then within 2 hours you receive an email stating what I have already said.

This happened to me on ebay - I bid $30 for a brass plumbing fitting I knew retailed for around $100. No-one else bid, so all I got invoiced was the 99cent starting bid. I sent off a reply saying "I was happy to pay $30 for this, and I don't want to rip you off - please re-list it and try again."
He refused, citing contract law of auction, and said "You won it fair and square."
Result - we both felt better about the transaction and I get to enjoy the brass push-pull sink plug without feeling guilty.

Your explaination is very clear, but, I have questions...
Did your money return with the "we can't..."
Is this a flat you want it/buy it now/send cash? (I don't shop ebay)
IF the money didn't come back immediately with the "oops" I would PUSH IT!
If this is a flat take it-this is the buy now price..deal
I WOULD PUSH IT!
If I got nowhere, I'd certainly make certain ebay understood that not only would I not be shopping with them anymore...NEITHER WOULD ANYONE I COULD TELL THIS TO... I'm not a big fan of "bait 'n' switch" in an guise...
On the other hand, mistakes happen... if my money came back with the "oops" I'd accept it, because "if something seems to be too good to be true..." Stuff happens.
It's one thing to pounce on a good deal; another to take advantage of a mistake.

Did that at Walmart for an electic alarm clock. They had the wrong price and tried to explain it and I wouldn't let it go. I got it $10 cheaper than the real price and I saw them changing the price while I was still paying. Guess they didn't want to give any more deals. LOL

I've tried a couple times but they claim if they post in the door of the store that it's a typo and the right price is such and such, they hold firm that they won't sell it cheap.

I'd push it. The very same thing happened to me at Wal-Mart a couple of times. They not only sold the item to me, for the price they mistakenly posted .. they also deducted a $10.00 'finder's fee', for me pointing out their error ... humph ... mighty nice of them, I'd say! :)

I would most definitely push the issue until I realized they weren't going to budge....And I'd ask to speak to the highest person in charge to discuss it with....

I'd push it because it's their fault. I once did that and got the item for free.

Push the issue - contract law applies...unless it is an "offer to treat".
