Sounds like Tesla's machine. When turned on, it sounds like an electrical sheathing sound that makes you feel like an old fashioned medieval warrior is removing his sword.
Then, there is a dominating electrical current around two octaves lower than middle C with an all encompassing vibrational hum that never stops as long as its on.
On top of the constant humming are clashing lightning like sounds when sabers hit each other. The more frequent they clash and the higher the decibels become, the more you know someone's gunna die because they are fighting furiously.
You don't have to look to know when they struck each other, because the vibration sounds become tortured electrical streams reaching a point of frenzy, but you want to watch, because its like watching dancers.
Kind of like watching sword fights on an old technicolor movie, only they sound like high pitched clashing silver ware... Really BIG silver ware when using swords.

It makes no sound.
It is like with Monty Python and Holy Grail. There is a guy with a balloon and moistened fingers making strange noises to make you think it was the light saber.
That is why you watch the wide screen version so that nobody gets cut out of the movie.
