I ask this before the end of the SF vs AZ game. If he pulls a rabbit out of a hat, I STILL don't get where his talent lies.

I've been a niners fan since John Brodie was a backup to Y. A. Tittle. I guess I'm spoiled. Joe Montana, Steve Young, even Jeff Garcia. I guess a dry spell was overdue.

Alex Smith was sooooo lucky to pick #1 overall by the 49ers, i mean his QB talents or lack their off. He's the one of the worst #1 overall pick for a QB ever, in my opinion. His line tonight 15 of 31, with 126 yards, a 48.4% ccompletion rate and 4.1 yards per pass attempt, and no TD and no INT. Wow and this QB will lead the 49ers to the big dance, i don't think so. They got lucky to win this game, some how, but he's not a franchise QB in my opinion.

to be honest, the 05 draft was sort of weak. smith and rodgers were the top 2 QBs and the 9ers needed 1, so they took smith. but look here, smith is still the youngest starting QB in the league and has 2 years under his belt. in this game, he was being blitzed the whole time and the oline couldnt pick it up, so he didnt have time to throw, thats why his #s are ugly. but he gutted out the win on an amazing last minute drive to win the game. smith is for real, sure he aint as talented as others but he has had a different coordinator every single year so far. mccarthy, norv turner, and now hostler. 3 OCs in 3 years, its not easy for a young QB to get everything right away.

Basically the Niners needed a QB really bad and it was a weak draft for QBs. They were really wishing Lienart would have come out early. I agree, I don't think Smith is anywhere near a number one overall pick. But their have been worst picks and he's not a bust, atleast not yet.

Well, did you see is maturity in the end of the game? I say he's a future star in this league. Go Niners!

The 49ers management are stupid. I realize they needed a QB but I don't understand why it had to be Smith. This guy is a backup at best.
