wow deep question...
I would simply say "yes" but I recently saw a program on the History channel about the universe, and they say that the universe is not infinite.. that every second it is growing, but at one point there was a beginning, and since there was a beginning, there will eventually be an end to the universe....

but I would like to think our souls are infinite... what is the point of life then right?

Well,

The soul apparently fits in the brain which on the average weighs 3 pounds.

That's about 1.4 liters or sphere about 5.5 inches (14cm) in diameter. So the soul is about the size of a cantaloupe.

This compares to the known universe which is 15 billion light-years across.

So the answer is No, it's not even close you silly person.

Universe big, soul little.

if the soul falls in a black hole it is moot.

Does the soul have matter?

The soul does not have matter. The soul is non-existent and trying to compare an idea to a physical reality is not going to result in a true analogy. Even if the universe is infinite, it is still a physical reality. I'd sooner argue that the soul is like light, and therefore always in existence unless it falls in a black hole. Then zappo!

The universe itself is our soul. All of us are just viewing different perspectives of our selves subjectively. This giant box of excitable energy is just puzzling. Does it have an end? Where did it come from? View it as yourself and you shall see yourself.
