I was fast asleep. A big contraction woke me up, so I looked at the clock to time it. The next one hit 5 min later, and my water broke at the same time!!

I felt fabulous just prior to having labor contractions! I wasn't tired anymore, and I have a lot of energy. With Baby #1 - I was watching 'The Price is Right' during the first spin off and felt a faint fluttering. When it happened 10 minutes later, then again, I knew this was 'it'. So I went out and washed my car and went grocery shopping. When I'd get a contraction, I hang onto the shopping cart. You should have seen the cashier's face when I had a contraction while checking out. :D After changing my clothes, my Mom and I took a walk on the beach. By the time we got done, my husband was there to drive to the hospital.
With Baby #2, I was asleep when the contractions started. They were 2 minutes apart when I woke up and I was already 4 cm. dilated (from the 7th month on), so we had little time to do much other than get dressed. We ran all the lights to get to the hospital. I had 5 minutes hard labor, pushed twice and he was born.

Mine started right at midnight. I was downstairs on the computer and the dog was lying next to me and he had gas. Just before the first contraction I felt like I was going to vomit but am not sure if it's as a result of the odor or the contractions that came after.

My first child came 3 1/2 weeks early. I was on a church retreat talking about dating and marriage. I tried to sleep, but felt like maybe I needed to pass gas. It got strong enough that my husband and I left, went to hospital, got check, was told not yet. Being young and dumb, we went back to the retreat, I didn't sleep, we finished the retreat. I still wasn't sure I was in labor. We went home, ate, went to our church shower, I kept asking other women "what did labor feel like to you?. After we went and ate supper and went to buy nursing bras (in case I was in labor:)) All of a sudden I finally KNEW I was in labor. Bought bras went to hospital. Stayed there and labored until 8:10am when my Sarah was born. 33 hours of labor. Yes she was worth. However, they do call it labor for a reason.
I forgot to mention it, but the day of the retreat suddenly my breasts leaked on my shirt and I felt like I just had to clean house. Go figure....
Best of luck to you, I hope you have a great labor, hopefully a lot shorter than mine.
I have always thought my labor took so long because my baby came so early that I was nervous and didn't relax and let it all happen.

Labor contractions felt just like that first cramp u get when u know your period is getting ready to come on. As 4 what I was doing?... I was on top of my husband ridin the hell out of him at 3:40am. Never forget it. I was only 7 mths and dialated to 8 in 44 minutes, before they could get my Identification bracelet on at the hospital. I guess my son said "to hell with this, I've gotta get outta here!" lol

I was at work just watching my stomach get really tight then release I didn't really feel anything but I thought that maybe they could be contractions so I started timing them and watching them. I didn't really think anything of it so I went home and went to bed and I woke up to water gushing out of me! I actually thought I peed myself so I cleaned up and said if anymore comes out I will go in and guess what? More came out so I went to the hospital and it turns out that I was in labor and my stomach tightening was contractions! I didn't even feel them until I was in really active later! then I really felt those ones. Everyone is different so just keep your eyes out and if you think something is going on its best to go get it checked out or at least call! Good luck and I hoped this helped

With my first newborn I wakened with a back discomfort which could go away interior of seconds and then come back and it improve into purely coming and going like each 8 minutes. i ultimately have been given uninterested in it waking me up and went to apply the bathing room and my mucus plug got here out. The backache finally began coming like each 5 minutes then 3 minutes until eventually i ultimately have been given to the wellbeing midsection and that i improve into 7 centimeters dilated. i could purely assume hard paintings once you start up feeling any form of discomfort that comes and is going each somewhat a couple of minutes and the minutes get much less and much less in between pains.

baby #1: i was shoveling snow and returning library books; when the contractions were regular and 3 minutes apart, i called the OB who advised going to the hospital -baby born 4 hrs later.
baby #2: i was washing the floors on my hands and knees; when the contractions were 3 minutes apart and regular, i called the OB who advised going to the hospital -baby born 2 hrs later.
pregnancy is NOT a disability, so walk, hike, work, live your life. when the baby is ready and the contractions are regular, go to the hospital.
