I say more power to both of them. I don't choose my candidates by color or gender or party affiliation, I never have, I never will. I vote on the issues.
As of now I'm undecided, but I haven't ruled any of them out.

I had a discussion with my sister about politics yesterday. She ask me who's running and came down being preachy about me being against Hillary. I find it a bit annoying that someone who doesn't follow politics would decide to preach to me. She was ridiculing people for supporting Obama because of his name. She says he has no way of winning becasue of race and his odd name. I'm being pragmatic, and agree with her, but I feel she is only voting for Hillary because of her sex.
I personally am against both of them because they are too far towards the left. I do not have an issue of Obamas Character as of yet, but Hillary is a different story. She seems to say anything to get elected, and there are several scandals that I found curious, like campaign finance. I have shifted to the right lately, because Bush is a lame duck and sees th Democrats are now spiralling out of control. There seems to be the attitude of teh democrat to bail out the irresponsible using the money from the responsible. I worked hard and was responsible and hold off buying a house since I do not have enough own. The housing prices went further out of my range despite my increase saving, because the irresponsible bought houses they can't afford. The Democrats want to use my tax dollars to help those who gambled and lost crying that they might lose their house, while not concern of those who are responsible not being able to buy the ir house due to increase taxes do to loses caused by these people and increase Housing cost due to again these people. A good society should punish the irresponsible and reward the responsible. The Democrats have it backwards.

I'm Republican and plan on voting for Thompson so I won't vote for either of them. However their race or gender have nothing to do with it. Obama has to little experiance and Hillary, well I have 4,000 reasons not to vote for her. I am a little leary about a woman president at the present ONLY because our Middle East leaders don't respect them. But I really thought Margret Thatcher was awesome!
I think that is so rude when people disagree with people at other posters!

Personally I don't think Hillary has policies that are good for the majority of Americans. And I think that she is arrogant - believing that she knows better than anyone what is good for us, taking away our RIGHT to decide for ourselves. This was especially true when she was the First Lady and attempted to re-make the medical policies in America! And the fact that she stayed with an adulterous husband shows me that she lacks good judgement.
I don't know enough about Obama, and that is the problem. I don't think he has enough experience, either in life or in politics to be the President. And he isn't exactly truthful in all his comments, either. For instance, he said he had global experience because he had lived overseas...but it was only for awhile and when he was very small, so his "global" experience would be limited, since he wasn't out really living in the culture.
I could and would be happy if there was a candidate who I felt could lead this country and represent us well to other countries, but I don't think Hillary or Obama, or any of the Republican candidates so far, is this person.

I can't stand Hillary because she's full of *&%@. She's courting the anti-war vote, but not only did she vote to authorize the war she is also on record as recently as two debates ago saying she will NOT pull out of Iraq if elected. Of course, she will still get anti-war people voting for her.
Obama is a joke because he comes out saying he's against the old ways and not a corrupt insider, and with a month he's gotten more corporate donations than any other candidate.
Seriously, its as if people will vote for another Bush rerun if its packaged in a multicultural way. That really is how pathetic our Republic has become.

Should sex or gender preference really be that most important characteristic of the next U.S. president?
My problems with those two candidates have nothing to do with race or gender. Obama is naive and inexperienced. I might be willing to vote for him for president in 2016, but not 2008.
Hillary on the other hand comes across as shallow and insincere. I truly believe that she would say ANYTHING to get elected president. God only knows what she really believes.
I could vote for a black man or a woman if I agreed with their policies, trusted their strength of will, and had confidence that they had the experience to know the right thing to do under difficult circumstances.
I think those are a better judge of a potential presidents worth than just the amount of melanin in their skin or the composition of their sexual anataomy.

You want a president based solely on race or gender? You know how ridiculous that sounds? The reason I can't stand Hillary is not because she is a woman, but because she is a extreme left socialist who is very hypocritical and flip flops on every issue depending on what the polls say. She is corrupt and conniving and will do anything to attain power. If her platforms aren't driven by the polls, they are driven by lobbyists and special interest groups like moveon.org.

I am a woman and constantly going through mood swings during a certain time of the month, older woman go through hot flashes, I think we would go to war every time she has a hot flash. I think a black male would never happen only because if you look at our history it has only been a white presidents and I think it's rigged so that we may never have a female or any other race elected for president.

I don't think gender or race figure into it much at all.
Hillary's been hated by the right ever since she said in a 1992 60 Minutes interview "I'm not some Tammy Wynette standing by my man" in their joint response to rumors of his infidelity. This remark was highly offensive to many stay-at-home Moms throughout the nation who thought she represented the "troublemaking feminists" who undermined traditional America culture and values.
Obama isn't nearly as hated as Hillary. The only reason so many are against him is because he's a Democrat and the GOP has conditioned many in this country to view all Democrats as liberals and all liberals as evil.

I have no problem with either of those being President. However, I DO have a problem with Hillary being President. Obama I'm impartial to. It's more about a candidate's positions than what their gender/ethnicity is. I don't care about what someone is, I care about who someone is.
