I believe change is defined as any degree, no matter how seemingly insignificant, of alteration of ones way of thinking and/or what they have already thought about (i.e. knowledge). We change all the time and don't even realize it. Change does not include gaining knowledge, this is simply a process. Change is more spiritually defined as a shift in ones spiritual character, such as a change from being cruel to being tenderhearted, or a change from being loveable to a jerk. These changes have the oppurtunity to occur every time our imagination picks up something new. By definition, you can change hundreds of times during the day and only (if you even do) percieve a slight change in mood. Basically, change it whatever way of thinking or philosophy you let get inside of you.
Yes, there has been a great change in my life since I recieved the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues (see Acts 2:38 and the epistles, which were written to people who already were saved, BTW). Having the Holy Ghost means that I have God's Spirit residing in me. I have a new way of thinking, I most definitely have changed. But just because I am now saved (technically I am not saved until I make it to heaven) (saved means: filled with the Holy Ghost, baptized, fully submerged, under the water in Jesus' name), this does not mean that I can not change my way of thinking any more. When I do change, it should be for the better, because salvation is a day to day process unto perfection (maturity of the spirit). If, however, I happen to change for the worse (sin), I can repent (since I am baptized) and have my spiritual record cleansed.
I decided toseek salvation when I figured at a young age (13) that I didn't want to go to hell. And for those who say there might not be a hell that you will reside in torture forever, I say, "It's better to be safe than sorry." And once you experience the Holy Ghost, you'll ask yourself, why didn't I seek for this before.

Your Q sounds philosophical, and then it appears to turn psychological. I'm confused b/c it's in the Phil category of Q's. I'll answer on the Phil side, from an Aristotelian point of view.
Change is a fundamental tenet of manifested reality. It simply means that ultimately everything is in motion. Everything moves, changes, vibrates.
What things were, and then what things are, involves a process we typically identify as cause and effect. This happened, and then that happened. Someone made a choice, then effects took place. And so on. We could even say that change is the result of the continuous and contiguous destruction and creation of reality.
What is the nature of cause and effect? We could define one in terms of the other if we could lay out what either one of them is. So, what about a cause; what is a cause?
We take a cause x to be something that temporally comes before some effect y, and in such manner that cause x determines some attribute(s) of effect y. That's about the extent to what we call a cause.
But what if also a cause of some action right now could be the actualization of some later goal? This would mean, for example, that being an oak tree is the cause of an acorn's growth.
So, how we define change has a lot to do with how we talk about reality, and vice versa.
Other than that, your best answers will come from realizing that nothing is standing still. Change is a bit hard to delineate because everything meets its criteria. You'll do well to look up "change" in a really good dictionary. It'll tell you.

I would define change as anything that your brain perceives as being out of the norm for itself. I think changes naturally occure, and nothing has to necessarily has to spark them. The only real self-induced changes are decisions we make about ourselves or our environments on a regular basis.

my definition of change is "constant modification"
everyday there is change in my life. to not expect change in our lives would be foolish. and we need to be adaptable to changes.
"The only constant in our lives is change"
the biggest change in my life recently was the diagnoses of cancer. this has really changed my life and how i live day to day.
thanks for asking.
good luck :)
