Cooking the books for the White House
General Petraeus is a military man constantly at war with the facts. In 2004, just before the election, he said there was “tangible progress“ in Iraq and that “Iraqi leaders are stepping forward.”

And last week Petraeus, the architect of the escalation of troops in Iraq , said ”We say we have achieved progress, and we are obviously going to do everything we can to build on that progress.”

Yet the General claims a reduction in violence. That’s because, according to the New York Times, the Pentagon has adopted a bizarre formula for keeping tabs on violence. For example, deaths by car bombs don’t count.

We'll hear of neighborhoods where violence has decreased. But we won't hear that those neighborhoods have been ethnically cleansed.

Most importantly, General Petraeus will not admit what everyone knows; Iraq is mired in an unwinnable religious civil war.
We may hear of a plan to withdraw a few thousand American troops.

But we won’t hear what Americans are desperate to hear: a timetable for withdrawing all our troops. General Petraeus has actually said American troops will need to stay in Iraq for as long as ten years.

Glen B: That is exactly what 'peace love and harmony' (the questioner) is asking people of your opinion to do!?!?!?!?!?!

Look at evidence presented by other sources that aren't directed by the Bush administration!

The Bush administration already said that the Generals report would come from the W.H.!

This is a total disservice to the people of our country, the military personnel who have their lives on the line, and the innocent civilians of Iraq when the Pentagon and the White House and in fact the Republican party presents "PART" of the truth! Cherry-picking as was done here doesn't represent a completely accurate account of the facts!!

I am an atheist you corn-cob. I do not provide an explanation for the truth that each and every phrase within the Bible is one hundred% right. You have received to be a essential mind-case to feel that a guide that used to be common from data taken 2000+ years in the past can potentially be one hundred% factually right. We were on this nation for a couple of hundred years and we nonetheless would no longer hold that data one hundred% right. And you believe that we did with the bible? You are an excessively younger idiot.

There are a lot of unsubstantiated claims within the ad. There are a number of 'citations' of the Associated Press, New York Times, and Washington Post, yet no reference to where these quotes come from. The ad claims that neighborhoods are being "ethnically cleansed" yet has no citation to back it up. It also makes a broad generalization by saying that everyone knows that Iraq is mired in a civil war.

The ad is the usual propaganda that Moveon.org spits out, nothing more. Anyone with half a brain can see that.

It's all a part of the media's spin on it and whether or not the reader wants to accept it fully.

Might I suggest you find other sources of information to compare and contrast before sheepishly bowing down to what's before you.
