I'm glad you defined what "it" is, I almost had to go Bill Clinton on you. A little of both. You can be rich and know all the right people and still have a miserable life because you don't know much about love. One example.

i believe it is who u know.
i got a job working as a manager when i had no idea what i was really doing.
the reason i got the job was because i knew
the guy that was about to quit
so i basically took over
all the degrees and stuff in the wolrd wont help
if u cant talk ya way in to a job

What you know doesn't do anything for you unless you've got the right connections to get you somewhere.

It's sad it has to be like that, but networking is everything- especially when it comes to employment! (as I'm discovering now)

Who you know may make things easier during certain situations..., i.e. getting into a private party, etc. But, I think it's WHAT you know that helps you in the long run. Sometimes they go hand-in-hand.
