I got a brand new Lenovo laptop 2 weeks ago. I've been using the wireless internet through the family computers router and its been working perfectly. I've been all over the house with it and always have great service. Then I turned it on this morning and the internet wont work. I've tried everything. I even spent an hour being transferred through all the different extensions on their "help" line until the guy told me to go online and get help from their website- hello, no internet. So now I'm back at square one. Why did it suddenly stop? And how can I get it back working? I called comcast and he told me to restart my computer... Like I didnt think of that yet. I can't find help anywhere! Please help!!

many laptops have a tiny switch located somewhere it is easy to bump, that turns wireless capability on and off. Look for that switch and make sure it's on.

Since it is isolated to the Sony, it's probably not freeloaders (good answer, though). I suspect that the IP address on your machine is hardwired to an address that can also be assigned. IP addresses can either be explicitly set on a particular computer, or assigned by the router using a protocol called DHCP. Control Panel/ Network Connections / right-click on Wireless Network Connection Properties Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) (you may have to scroll to find this) Properties Obtain IP address automatically Obtain DNS server address automatically

Ok, obviously you have internet service since you're on here, so I'm guessing what you're talking about is you're not getting internet service through the laptop?

Did you unplug the router, wait a minute and plug it back in and then right click on the network icon on the laptop, view available wireless networks and is your network listed?

Did you try right clicking on the network icon on the laptop and click on repair?

Did you try setting up the network over again?

Check your wireless connection source. If you configured the family PC to be the one to give you internet that computer has to be on in order for you to get the wireless.

If you have a wireless router, just refresh it. Disconnect it from power for about 10 seconds then connect it again.

Try that, good luck.

Contact your ISP provider to setup the wireless link. Setup address / no is different for each Internet service provider.
