to solve x eliminate y
3x-8y=32
-x+8y=-16
2x + 0 = 16
2x = 16
x = 8
to find y sub 8 in for x
3x-8y=32
3(8)-8y=32
24-8y=32
-8y=8
y=-1

2x + 0 = 16
2x = 16
x = 8

divide 2 and x=16/2
use that for x on the first equation and solve for y there you go
