I ran a diagnostic program (SIW) and it picks up both cores just fine, but when I goto Task Manager it only shows 1 cpu core no matter what view settings I use. Also, there is not any difference in multitasking from my old single core. I'm just wondering if I need to re-install XP to utilize the full potential since I simply used ASR to get from my old setup to my new one. I also tried updating AMD software from their site to no avail.

I have XP Pro. My theory is my original installation of XP Pro was ran on a Pentium 3, then I ASR'd it to a Sempron, then ASR'd it to AMD64 3700+ SanDiego, and I just recently ASR'd to my AMD64 X2 4600+ Windsor. So XP Pro was not initialized with the dual core processor. Am I right?

[In response] I got all the updates already including SP2 long ago on my Sempron build. My theory is I just need to re-install Windows so it initializes with the dual core architecture. My problem is I have so many programs and add-ons that re-installing everything as I currently have it would be borderline impossible. Now, if I had a Vista Premium or Ultimate disk (I wish) then the in-os upgrade tool should theoretically preserve everything.
