My kids were in the water as newborns. I love the water and felt the need to share it with them. After 6 weeks of age, babies can generate their own body heat. Your baby may love the pool and it's a good way for you two to connect even further. Look for baby and me swimming classes. It helps babies learn what to do in an emergency while being fun for both of you!

You need to be careful with children under 6 months as they have a more difficult time regulating their body temperature than an older infant. If you do decide to go to an indoor pool check to see the temperature is around 80 degrees and don't take them into a jacuzzi or spa. The temp's in there are too high for younger children.

I will have to say YES!

I have had my son enrolled in indoor swimming lessions since 6 months.

He has never become "sick"......if that is your concern.

Also he loves water and has never been afraid of it! Look up a local YMCA they offer swim classes from 6 mos on :0)

I see no reason not to take them. Besides and indoor pool is safer for babies skin, no sunburns or unnecessary exposure to UV.

Yes just make sure you have the proper swimming diapers on them and don’t keep them in the water for to long and make sure they dont get to much water into there ears because babies get ear infections really easy by having water in them. And make sure you give them a nice bath after that. Also while in the pool you need to make sure the water's warm enough for him. "If the water feels chilly to you, it will be really cold for your baby," If he starts shivering, it's time to get out of the water. Too much heat can be a problem, too. Young children overheat more quickly than adults and get a flotation device that fits properly and is not going to cause your babies head to tip head first into the water cause mine always use to do that when I was little. And if you baby don’t like it you might want to try just sitting him on the steps of very shallow water so he or she may get use to it first.

Yes! And I did. Do like others have mentioned and wash them well afterwards. I have kept my 6 week old in an indoor salt water pool for a half hour.

Your little one may not like it, but they may love it. Both of mine did.

Have fun!

Yes, just don't let his/her head go into the water and keep it's ears out of the water too. Only let the baby stay in the water a little while because it will get cold a lot faster than you. Also give him a bath right away when done to get all the chemicals off him!!

I brought mine in when he was 3 months, and he loved it, I would have done it sooner had I known he was going to like it so much! He is now 4 months, and already knows to splash and laugh in the water! I have a great floatie made by SunSmart that has an adjustable sun shade on it to keep the sun out of his face and he enjoys it, even if he cant sit up, you can lay him on his back like he were in a bed. Just make sure you have a hold on him at all times, even in a floatie...accidents happen.

yes, just give them a bath or rinse off their body when you are done. Just to get all chemicals from the pool off. Try not to keep them in the chlorinated water for too long. It dries out skin too so if you have baby lotion maybe put some on the baby after rinsing off.

I would think it's ok, but just for a short time. Nothing prolonged! And make sure you find some good swimming diapers!!! (if it's a public pool).
