Sure...people-watching is a great American pasttime.
We like to check out others to find out just what it is that makes us all different. The way we walk, the way we dress, the way we eat, the way we do "anything" is always under our own scrutiny to see how we ourselves fit into this society we share with everyone.
Now, my observations include this critique of women watching women and men watching ...women...
(most men I know don't watch OTHER men....
we watch women)
Women like to watch other women (as was told to me by my female friends) so they can politely criticise them (while chatting with a friend) for just about anything personal they observe: their hair, their makeup, their clothes, their weight (this is ALWAYS discussed), and just about anything about them that will give the observing woman a feeling of superiority knowing they are better than the woman they are watching.
Men like to watch women for obvious reasons: usually to satisfy their own lustful, lecherous, lascivious and other carnal urges that occupy a large percent of his every thought during his waking hours.
And that's the way it is...walking down a street watching others, sitting on a park bench or whatever, we simply enjoy the show that others put on for us.

Indeed. But I get the feeling I get watched for that reason more than I get to do the watching.:)
